AIBU to ask how much do investment bankers earn? If I’m IANBU, care to tell what it is typically?

OP posts:
Confusedamonium · 30/10/2020 20:17

Anywhere from £30,000 to millions. Are you dating one?

Bouncebacker · 30/10/2020 20:19

But those I have know would make say around 80k base but then much more in bonus but that’s very variable - 200k one year, nothing the next

Bouncebacker · 30/10/2020 20:19

Also depends on their role type, and what they are trading

Nameuser2 · 30/10/2020 22:09

Not dating. I recently became friends with one and there’s a bit of showing off.

Why would you not just google this?

How are they showing off?
JoJoSM2 · 30/10/2020 22:48

How are they showing off?

I’m also interested.

Givemeabreak88 · 30/10/2020 22:50

I read the title as earrings, time for bed I think..

CutToChase · 30/10/2020 22:53

I also read as earrings then read the OP and thought the poster believed her investment banker BF had bought jewellery too cheap in her opinion

Confusedamonium · 30/10/2020 23:22

It's not really any of your business how much money other people make to be honest. So, yes, YABU to ask.

KeepSmiling89 · 30/10/2020 23:25

@Givemeabreak88 ME TOO!!

Grapefruitcauliflower · 30/10/2020 23:28

Of course YANBU to ask - it’s an anonymous forum! Don’t understand this weird secrecy around earnings. I have no idea of the answer though.

Also read the title as earrings Grin

Givemeabreak88 · 30/10/2020 23:33

Glad it wasn’t just me Grin I read it and then thought what on Earth does that have to do with earrings. Was quite looking forward to an aibu about earrings !

stopgap · 30/10/2020 23:37

Everything from 100k for junior analysts to a a few million for managing directors and silly money for the heads of investment banks.

DramaAlpaca · 30/10/2020 23:39

I also read it as 'earrings' first. Disappointed now.

MrsKramer · 30/10/2020 23:39

On average, £750,000 per annum and free fruit

nimbuscloud · 30/10/2020 23:40

Nephew - 24 -quantitative trader on graduate program. £95000.

waterthedog · 30/10/2020 23:49

Another who read earnings Grinbut curious to hear how they're showing off! Also YANBU as someone else said it's an anonymous forum. I'm always curious how much others earn, I'd never ask them directly though. It's fascinating how people choose to spend money in different ways, expensive car but rent their house, splurge on oversees holidays and always eating out but can't afford to buy. Others enormous house/mortgage but never go out...

minipie · 31/10/2020 00:16

I recently became friends with one and there’s a bit of showing off.

It’s probably true. They are paid obscene amounts.

Are they showing off or just living their life?
nowahousewife · 31/10/2020 06:07

Son, 1st year on graduate programme at a private bank €60000.
Is your friend showing off or just “living his best life”?

lboogy · 31/10/2020 06:15

I know two or know the partners of two.

One is on £170k per year
The other on £1m

One is the head of his/her division

Coulddowithanap · 31/10/2020 06:30

Next question.. how do you get a job as an investment banker? 🤔

Bluntness100 · 31/10/2020 06:32

My daughters friend just stared a grad role as one, starting salary of 85k.
