Hi all. Posting for traffic. My son has developed a patchy rash on his torso. I'm emailed pics to the gp so waiting his reply but I wondered what it is. It's developed a darker colour since last night and had new patches on his back. Anyone any ideas.

Ring worm?

SummerHouse · 26/10/2020 18:46

Has he been in a hot tub?

Or, did it start with one mark (called a herald patch)?

SummerHouse · 26/10/2020 18:49

www.nhs.uk/conditions/pityriasis-rosea/

This is the condition that starts with the herald patch. Was totally harmless in my son. Just looked a bit Confused

SummerHouse is spot on i think. Had it in my early twenties.

What did the gp say?

Mytimetokillandmaim · 26/10/2020 19:24

I had this just a few weeks ago.
It was just on my torso.
Exactly like your picture.
Nothing ever came of it and it took about a week to fade..maybe 10 days.

Doctor said it was some sort of allergic reaction but I hadn't eaten anything new. Doctor also thought it was my shower gel as I only noticed it in the shower. But I think that's only because I was naked I saw it..I must have had it before shower. GrinI dont think the shower gel did anything.
Hopefully it's just one of those things! Confused

Hi
I also thought it was pityriasis rosea but no herald patch. It's def not ring worm. The Locum gp was less then useless and said it's eczema but I can see the patches getting darker in colour and spread in front of my eyes I really highly doubt it's eczema. He's not been near a hot tub or had any changes to soap power or shower stuff etc. He autistic so I can't just change things that smell
