Help! I can't get hot water in new house

I've just moved in to my new rented house but can't get hot water. The boiler is on and the heating works fine but I'm stuck how to get hot water. Please can anyone advise? Thanks 😊

What kind of boiler is it?
Do you have a separate hot water tank with a separate switch that needs heating first?

I had this in a holiday cottage and there was an immersion switch you had to turn on to get hot water? Usually they are in the airing cupboard

You'd be better off asking the landlord who knows the house...

If the heating is going, is there a slidey switch for heating-both-water?
A picture of tye boilercand control box might help.

Call your landlord. They’ll know better than anyone here.

@pigletjohn is who you need to help you.

"can't get hot water"

you mean you turn on the hot taps and cold water comes out?

Or you turn on the hot taps and nothing comes out?

is it a combi boiler?

have you got a hot-water cylinder? What colour?

please photograph the timer/programmer especially, and the control panel on the boiler, and any other interesting bits you can see, and post on here

and the HW cylinder, if any, and any switches or cables around it.

Pressure has probably fallen, speak to landlord, or google how to repressurise this boiler. Do you have a back up emersion tank that you can use for hot water in the meantime? If so put it on for an hour, remember to switch it off!

PigletJohn · 17/10/2020 19:52

if the heating is working, it's not pressure problem.

Thanks for your replies. I now have hot water! I just had to fiddle a bit with the boiler!
