Moving house during term - what happens with school?

Posting here for traffic. Name change as I haven't told anyone IRL.

I live North-ish. I've been offered a great job in London. DC goes to a state primary school. What happens school-wise if I move during the year? Will the new location/council offer DC a school place? Am I better off waiting until the next school year, i.e. I move now and DP & DC move in September 2021?

Does anyone have any experience?

Do you know where you want to live? Have you arranged to go and look round schools? How soon do they want you to start?

The council deal with in-year entries, once you know where call them and ask which schools have spaces

You need to decide where you want to live and then look at which LAs and schools. Start with what you can afford to rent (if renting). Then look for travel routes from your new workplace.

Non standard entry point places vary by where you want to live but generally there is a reasonable turnover in many London schools but where you live (distance) is often key.

Have you worked out where you can afford to live?
