Get a test. Isolate until it comes back.

Could he smell before? I had terrible sense of smell as a child.

doctorhamster · 26/09/2020 13:28

Yes he/she needs a COVID test.

GreyishDays · 26/09/2020 13:29

As it’s one of the three symptoms, a test is required. Why would you think it wouldn’t be? Just curious, not being snarky.

Icantrememebrtheartist · 26/09/2020 13:29

Could smell before.

Thanks everyone.!

Yeah, you need to get a test. Good luck!

Icantrememebrtheartist · 26/09/2020 13:30

Grey - because no other symptom at all and seems fine

Yes get a test.

Any ONE of the three symptoms.

Loss of smell is one the list.

So you all isolate and either they get a negative result or its the 14 days.

vanillandhoney · 26/09/2020 13:33

Yep, definitely needs a test. It's one of the main symptoms. You all need to isolate until you get a negative result.

Good luck!

RepeatSwan · 26/09/2020 13:33

Aaargh this actually makes me want to weep!

The whole point is people seem fine.

Isolate and test. Please just follow the guidance.

heathcliffthe2nd · 26/09/2020 13:39

There is no ambiguity on the message from the government here (despite many others!). GET A TEST! (From a teacher of 5 year olds)

sunyla · 26/09/2020 13:40

Get a test and isolate. Can't be too safe.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 26/09/2020 13:43

You don’t need all 3 symptoms on the list to get tested. You only need ONE.

Get a test booked

Everyone from your household stays at home until you get the test result.

The result will dictate what happens from then.

If it’s not Covid and your child still can’t smell anything try a sls free toothpaste, I lost taste and smell for 2 years, nobody could figure out why, then someone mentioned sls free toothpaste and it turned out I’d become allergic to sodium lauryl sulphate that’s in toothpaste

OoohTheStatsDontLie · 26/09/2020 14:40

I cant see how this could be misinterpreted. The guidelines say test if cough OR temperature OR loss of smell / taste. Why wouldn't you get a test?

Etinox · 26/09/2020 14:45

Test and isolate I’m afraid. Flowers

lljkk · 26/09/2020 16:26

Let us know what happens, OP?

FeedtheFish123 · 26/09/2020 16:30

Of course he seems fine. Coronavirus is a mild illness in most people.
Despite this the rules say anyone of the 3 main symptoms test and isolate. Until we can work out why some people get it worse and can treat and prevent that we have to test and isolate. What if one if the 'some people' is someone you love.
