Chills when listening to music

I thought this was something everyone experienced but a recent article said otherwise. I wanted to have a vote and see how many people this happens too? I’m fascinated! I get real chills and my hairs stand on end when I hear a song I like - sometimes for the duration of the song. This most recently happened when listening to Hometown by Adele.
Let’s say:

YABU - I don’t ever get chills
YANBU - I do get them!

Yes, I just had this listening to Civilian by Wye Oak.

I feel like my insides are swooping about when it happens.

UnfinishedSymphon · 23/09/2020 16:38

3 for me

Sound of Silence by Disturbed
Vienna by Ultravox
Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits

Proper goosebumps

TheDuchessofMalfy · 23/09/2020 16:39

I’m thinking most people get this sometimes!

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 23/09/2020 16:40

Sound of Silence by Disturbed
Vienna by Ultravox

Yes and yes.

Ffsffsffsffsffs · 23/09/2020 16:45

The first few notes of phantom of the opera, and LOADS of classical music give me the chills.

OverTheRubicon · 23/09/2020 16:46

Choral music for me.

beansonbread · 23/09/2020 16:48

I get this for so many songs but the latest one has weirdly been Show Yourself from Frozen 2. When the music builds towards the end, I get chills over my whole body and I tear up every single time I hear it!

2020visions · 23/09/2020 16:50

It’s such an amazing feeling isn’t it! I find it incredible how we can have such an emotional response to music

There’s a guy called dan vasc on you tube who covers Disturbed’s version of the sound of silence. It’s amazing.

For me it’s the G5# at the end of nightwish’s Ghost Love score- gets me every time.

stardance · 23/09/2020 16:55

Definitely!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 23/09/2020 16:59

Yes I get this too. I always wondered if it was connected to ASMR. Only certain songs though.

Scweltish · 23/09/2020 17:00

My daughters in an amazing school choir. They’re all 11/12 years old. I always get goosebumps when I hear such little girls sing live with these wonderful voices. I got tears in my eyes hearing them sing o holy night in a Christmas performance in Liverpool cathedral

anuffername · 23/09/2020 17:26

Mine are multiplying - I may be losing control.

bearlyactive · 23/09/2020 17:30

I get it too, but no particular songs. It can be covers or originals, and I could have listened to it a million times before, but it just happens randomly!

lughnasadh · 23/09/2020 17:35

Never.

I don't really feel music at all.

There are pieces I am fond of, Gabriel's Oboe, Song for Athene, a few bits by Dvorak, but otherwise I just find music irritating.

Paintedmaypole · 23/09/2020 17:39

I never get chills listening to music. I think there is something missing and I don't appreciate music properly.

CatRamsey · 23/09/2020 17:39

I definitely get this, I've always said I can feel music!

Don't ever go to the Sistine chapel.

paisley256 · 24/09/2020 09:32

I always get this, sometimes it's the voice or the voice combined with a specific lyric in the song. I always have chills with great guitar solos especially love versions. Not everyone gets this I've had many a strange look!

paisley256 · 24/09/2020 09:32
