Pubs are not complying with social distancing

I realise that this will not be everyone's experience but it is just not happening where I live.
Just gone into local lockdown, the highest number of cases in Wales per 100k.
Who is actually checking or enforcing this?

And no I am not reporting neighbours or anyone for breaking rules, I don't even know what my neighbours are doing.

Just want to get back to some normality for all of us.

Pubs are buildings, PEOPLE with their free will are choosing not to distance, more fool them. I had Covid in March and my son was hospitalised with it, it's not fun and games trust me. Personally I don't know what's going on in pubs as I don't need to visit one, so I've made my own choice not to.

I personally know of 3 pubs in Wales that were ordered to close for 48 hours for not complying with covid guidelines. Guess what? They are all complying now.

Report the pubs. They will get checked.

My son works in a bar and says it's really bad - not surprising that when you've had a few you forget about your social distancing, and with loud talking being more likely to spreading virus if anyone has it. It's not rocket science.
If they're going to stay open it should be tickets/hand stamps so you can only stay in one premises/seating only and table ordering only.

We went for dinner at a local pub on Friday night.

No track or trace details taken by anyone. There was a book to sign but most people ignored it and it wasn't checked or linked with the time yo were there or the table you sat at.
Tables were closer than 2m apart.
People going to the bar and ordering like normal. The only difference was no bar stools and you couldn't just stand there and drink - nothing could be ordered without a table number.
No staff in visors or facemasks. Nobody else wore them either.

I’ve been to lots of pubs recently (on holiday in England).
All of them were table service only.

All of them took details for test & trace.
All of them had well spaced tables and one way systems.
All customers that I saw were socially distanced.

Potterpotterpotter · 22/09/2020 21:00

Iv been to lots of pubs ... it’s 50/50 if people are following rules.
I haven’t been in a single pub with a one way system though.

Tanfastic · 22/09/2020 21:08

I've been to two pubs, one was excellent, all measures in place, everybody following the rules sensibly.

The other ...yes had measures in place, a one way in one way out, tables spaced out, no more than six on a table but unfortunately the undesirables in this pub decided the rules weren't for them, completely ignored them, going over to each other's tables to chat, going out the way in for a smoke etc etc. Two women serving behind the bar didn't feel comfortable confronting any of them so just left them to it.

ChasingRainbows19 · 22/09/2020 21:12

The few pubs/restaurants I’ve been to have followed guidance well. Good table spacing and other covid measures.

Some I’m sure are pushing it with not following the guidelines but then that’s up to enforcement. Or they’ll be closed. Better to be open safely than shut down.

ThreePipeProblems · 22/09/2020 21:18

Our local pub is complying. One way system, track and trace, sanitiser everywhere. No more than six per table. No socialist between tables. No standing at the bar. Everything cleaned and sanitised.

See this is what’s angering me and today I hit rock bottom if I’m honest with the new measures my mental health is shot probably made worse by PND.

I’ve been in a local lockdown already for the past 3 weeks ( I’m Scotland and you can probably guess where ) so to hear this today was such a blow. I’ve not been to 1 pub, 1 restaurant, haven’t been to a shopping centre, have my shopping delivered and have been stuck in the same 4 walls since feb because I was considered vulnerable. Add a new born that doesn’t sleep, can’t meet any other new mums I can’t just be “ normal “ and feel like I’m being punished again.

I can’t go to a pub or a restaurant to meet my family as they are vulnerable ( shielding category all of them 2 with cancer, 1 with severe COPD and 1 with a immunodeficiency ) So that’s me pretty much up that creak without a paddle and if I’m being honest I probably will break the rules to go and see them considering that 2 of my family aren’t going to be here much longer and I don’t care in the slightest if I’m called all the selfish f*ckers under the sun, I’m not one of these people spreading this virus I don’t go anywhere but I’m one of the ones suffering. It’s not bloody rocket Science when your out....just social distance and stop making it worse for the ones that are doing it right!
