To think this is really out of order

I'm on maternity leave at the moment so it's not affecting me at present but 2 people I work with are on a final warning for time off. They have had time off because they or family have had symptoms of Covid but apparently it still affects your attendance.
Given it's a customer role and absolutely no way it can be done from home am I BU to think it's out of order?
All that will happen is sick members of staff will come to work and spread it to other staff members and customers.
Shouldn't they stop warnings based on attendance at the moment? It's a huge company and loads of people are at risk of getting sick.
I'm really worried about returning to work and my son going to childcare as I know he'll be at risk of picking up loads of bugs (on top of Covid and most childcare settings are understandably are being very strict on coughs etc).
Thoughts please.

I agree with you. And this is why it will continue to spread.

New rules for fines which include employers are being introduced from the 28th

At-a-glance: What are the new rules?

People in England who are told to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace face fines of £1,000 - up to £10,000 for the worst offenders - if they fail to do so.

This includes those who test positive and those identified as close contacts of confirmed cases.

It also includes employers who force staff to ignore an order to self-isolate.

NHS Test and Trace will make regular contact with those isolating to check compliance.

The measures apply from 28 September and will be enforced by police and local authorities.

It's good the government are enforcing time off but it doesn't help people who will loose their job through time off
So many people looking for jobs so the company won't care about sacking a few.
