to want to write a memoir

I want to write a memoir and people keep telling me I should as I have a lot to talk about, share, but I wouldn't even know where to begin or how to write it in a style that people would read. How can I look into this? I did think about ghost writers but bloody hell they are not cheap.

How have other people done this? Can't join a writers group because I'm disabled, another reason why a ghost writer can also help.

Is it worth it? Do you think you'll make money from it or is it for a personal experience.
Most memoirs end up in the pound shop.
Can you share your stories another way.

The only way it will be a success is if you have a huge social media following.

Do it. You might not make money from it, but for your family.

Someone in my family started to write his memoir but suddenly died. Now most of their life story is sadly gone, part from the bits from elsewhere.

Even if it’s not well written- just start with a timeline/notes and build it from there with your stories about the events. You could always use dictation software?

The o my way to write is to start writing, then keep writing.

Ignore the negativity here. If you have an interesting story and something to say, write.

You don’t need a ghostwriter, a group or anything but a computer and the determination to get started and keep going.

Think about writing it as if you were telling a friend. Start getting it out in words and you can worry about style later.

You may not write a bestseller - or you might! - but making money from your memoir is not the only reason to write one and there are lots of ways to publish nowadays.

When you’ve got to a stage of writing you can share, there are lots of ways you can help with the next stage - and I bet you could find an online writing group.

Just get started!

And read some memoirs. There are many, celeb and non celeb. Read a few to get a sense of how they are put together, what style you think would suit you and your story etc. For inspiration and to get you started...
