This is a thread for those of us who want to complain about little things (covid related or not) without it turning into a debate or being told it's not as bad as someone else's problem.

Feeling ill, hate your job, holiday cancelled? Come and tell me about it! I wont respond with "at least you have a job" or "stop whining". Please keep these sort of comments to the million other negative threads.

Actually I say little things, they could be big things or little things which are big to you. I don't want to minimise anyone feelings

I don't want to go to work today. I'm bored with trimming borders, the neverending grass growth, having to listen to people squabbling in another language (DON'T! I am not against people using their own language, but after a full day of it, it does get tiring!) and I wish I could be bothered to start exercising but I can't.

KitKatastrophe · 24/08/2020 05:19

Sorry you're not enjoying your job. Is it your workmates who talk in their own language? I bet that makes you feel quite left out

My 5 week old is having a decent night’s sleep for the first time in ages, but I’ve been wide awake since 2am Hmm

Boomerwang · 24/08/2020 05:29

Yes my three workmates are eritrean. Fantastic people but the language uses every sound possible including right down to where we make glottal stops.

Re: wonky sleep every sunday night without fail I cannot get to sleep. I have to be up at 0430 but I often go to work on one or two hours sleep. Bah

Oh no! I often have that, like you cant sleep because you're waiting for them to wake up any minute and then as soon as you nod off they wake up.

I hope your day at work is better than you expect Boomerwang

My orthodontist still isn’t open. I am doing Clear Correct (similar to Invisalign) and was due to finish on 1st May. Instead I’m still stuck wearing the aligners and having to faff about taking them out and brushing my teeth every time I want to eat or drink anything. I’ve been stuck with them for 4 extra months now and still no sign of when I might be able to see my orthodontist again!

I dislike Monday's because I have to get up and get ready earlier, so I can be in my office for 8am, because the cleaner comes at 8.

isabellerossignol · 24/08/2020 07:08

I keep getting taken in by troll threads and it's really annoying me that I'm not smarter.

I usually see through the very dramatic ones (sob stories, cheeky neighbours, unexpected twin pregnancy etc) but the ones I am taken in by are about the minutiae of everyday life, and I can't understand why anyone goes to the trouble of writing them. I understand people getting a kick out of telling tall stories about the police coming to the door of their husband being missing (even if I think they're areseholes for doing it) but I don't understand getting a kick out of asking people if they like a mug or a cup of tea, or if they prefer the window open or closed, or whatever trivial stuff they come up with.

latticechaos · 24/08/2020 07:08

Consider this a racist remark tbh.

StealthPolarBear · 24/08/2020 07:08

I want to see my wider family indoors like we used to.

iamruth · 24/08/2020 07:14

I hate wfh all the time. I miss people. I do this job because it’s all about working with people and the telephone is not the same, it’s boring.

Also my husband is boring, makes no plans or offers no suggestions for anything to entertain anyone so now I’ve stopped doing it my life is one big dirge.

Mum has cancer - terminal
Dad in remission having just finished treatment
Ds diagnosed with neurological degenerative condition.

Best friend been going though rough time and I've supported her despite her not even responding when I need chat due to above.
I send texts on special days etc.

This week ds and I both had milestone birthdays.

Not even a text Angry

And I should be sat in the sun in Spain right now with an all inclusive bar - which may have helped Grin

Nonsense. Have you been in the situation? I used to work with a team of lovely French ladies, we all got on really well and I'm still friends with them years later, but on some days when they were on particularly chatty form my head would spin by the end of the day, which I think was down to my brain trying constantly to process the background noise into something I understood, but of course failing as I don't speak French. It's not remotely racist.

I'd like to add 'people who are offended on someone else's behalf' to the list of trivially unreasonable things please Smile

I don’t think any of this is trivial, sorry you’re having such a rough time and your friend was so thoughtless. I hope you enjoyed your birthday celebrations.

I'm not offended on someone else's behalf. I just stated that I consider it a racist remark.

My potty trained toddler still gets distracted, forgets to hold his penis down and pees over the top of the potty. I've just mopped up yet another puddle because there's a fly in the bathroom. In the grand scheme I know it's not a big deal, but I'm so bored of cleaning up pee!

Ping pong ball made to look like a target! Either in potty or on loo. Gets their attention and makes them aim Grin

We'd booked our first holiday in 15 years, to the Isle of Wight, it was going to be our 5yr old granddaughters first holiday too, then Covid happened and we couldn't go. Not a big deal in view of everything else, but it feels it to me.

I'm sad that last years Yr6's won't be at school when we go back, I used to love the excitement of the leavers and we all missed it this year.
