Fortnite ban

DS has ADHD and anger issues. I had to ring the police last night . We told him in the morning he had a daily 2 hour limit on Fortnite. He agreed and came off it but then started pestering for more and being very disrespectful. He would not stop and was intimidating, angry and threatening. The police were very tactful and understanding. He apologised. I have told him the police have suspended his account for a long time due to his behaviour. It was actually me who e-mailed Epic games and suspended the account last night! AIBU to not have told him the truth?
He only has a mobile phone, no console. We removed
His mental health has suffered from the lockdown and we are waiting for help from MAST about anger management.
He's now complaining there are no good games to play. He can still play and talk to friends on Minecraft and we are meeting up with his friends this week for the first time since March.

How old is he?

Feellikedancingyeah · 11/08/2020 14:02

14 but not the maturity of that age . Children with ADHD tend to be 30% behind

Interesting that you can email.epic games and ask.for an account to be suspended. My son (13, Asd, Pda, Odd) is addicted to this game and the games turns him into a horrid person when he plays.

Go to Epic Games website.
Log on to your account.
Find the Fortnite picture. Click it and press Contact us
Fill in the form , ask for the account to be suspended TEMPORARILY
easy process.
You can also tell them they were banned by Epic for shouting/ poor behaviour on the game or whatever. Then it's not on your shoulders.
Problem solved !

Another one who does not allow this game. We only have a couple of games, such as just dance, super Mario and Minecraft.

IMO 2 hours a day is a lot. Does he then have phone/tv/computer time on top?

My kids are allowed 30 mins of game time each on a Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.

Symptoms you are describing are not uncommon, as these children are addicted.

I am sorry you are going through this. I think it will be hard but new rules need to be drawn up. Good luck!

(Forgot to add one DC is ADHD and ASD. We noticed early on that his behaviour became quite bad when he had more than an hour of screen time a day, hence we put these rules in place for the whole family. They have been accepted without question by all involved.)
