Avg hourly rate for cleaners vs. that for nannies

Aibu to think that part-time nannies (cover school run and look after kids) should absolutely charge more than cleaners? We live in London by the way. What is your opinion?

Not sure why we are comparing? Why not gardeners vs cleaners?
What are the rates for both groups?

In an ideal world everyone should get a fair wage. Why should a nanny get more than a cleaner as a benchmark? Ask for the same as a cleaner or ask for more.

Both jobs are more important and provide a service to people. They shouldn’t be played off each other.

Presumably they charge whatever the local market will bear?

I think a nanny working part time should charge more, yes. Because presumably there is a long gap in the middle of the day when they’re earning nothing.
Of course the reason a full time nanny gets paid less than a gardener or cleaner is that they’re there all day, and being paid every minute. Cleaners are only paid for the short time they’re there, and earn nothing as they travel between jobs, so have to charge more to cover this shortfall.
But I agree, if a nanny works for an hour in the morning, and 3 hours in the afternoon then they should be paid more than a cleaner.
