Bleeding whilst on Cerazette

Hi all, just wondered if anyone had stopped taking Cerazette due to constant bleeding, and if so, how long did it take for the bleeding to stop once you'd stopped taking Cerazette.

For me, it was nine days. I've heard of it taking a lot longer for others though. I seem to recall someone visiting their GP about this and getting something to stop the flow so if it's been going on for some time, it might be worth a call. Remember to make sure you're getting enough iron in your diet btw.

I was fine on cerazette. Bled for about ten days (normal for me is 7-8) and then nothing ever again. Then got switched to the cheaper cerelle and bled for two months before I fucked it off.

Don't bleed at all on depo, the worst that happens is a couple of spots a day or two after the shot and they only last a few days

I started taking cerazette almost 2 years ago, for the first 6 months I bled almost constantly, then my doctor doubled my dose and it stopped, buuuuut I now have frontal fibrosing alopecia. Caused by hormones and stress, so I've come off cerazette completely in the last month. I'm not saying it 100% caused my hair loss, but it's been a contributing factor. Obviously not everyone will experience the same side effects, but just be aware.

I tried it for about 6 months with pretty much constant on off bleeding. I don't know why I tried for so long really.

I gave up on it and we switched to condoms instead. I'm no longer willing to put hormones or chemicals into my body for contraception.

Hi, it’s only been a week since I stopped taking it, so will wait a while longer before going to the Dr’s. Thanks for mentioning the iron in my diet, I hadn’t given that a thought!

@BillywigSting

My doctors tried to fob me off that they're exactly the same yet I'd bleed constantly on one and not the other.

I forget which now, though!

BillywigSting · 05/08/2020 14:51

Mine did too.

They are absolutely not the same. May well be the same hormone but they are not the same pill.

Bled for 6 months straight before I gave it up. And it played havoc with my emotions. It made me tearful and paranoid about everything, really weird. Best thing I did was stop taking it.

What did you use instead? I'm 3 months in and so fed up bleeding
