OP, trust me on this - tarot is a load of utter bollocks. I know, because I used to do tarot readings. I never charged for it so wasn't scamming anyone, but it was complete bollocks. It's telling people what they want to hear, not what they ought to know. I'm really sorry you're feeling down, but a collection of cards isn't going to change anything.

I think tarot card readings can feel useful in that they can make you feel like "the universe" has some plan and / or logic for whatever it is you're going through.

Can you maybe post on the relevant thread about what is troubling you? There are some very wise and kind people on here who may be able to help.

I got into Tarot at university, through some friends. All studying maths and hard sciences!

It's all random fluff (probably), but I find sometimes (when I'm confused/upset about my life, or just the state of the world in general) it helps me focus on the right questions.
The randomness, I think, helps breaking deeply held preconceptions.

A CBT therapist would probably do a much better job, but they're not as easy to access...

And you think disrespecting people that believe is the way to get a free one? I don't do tarot readings although I had one (for free from a lovely lady once) but if I was a reader I'd tell you to fuck off.

Tarot never lies. It's up to you how you interpret what you see/read. It's that simple.

I find it helps me decide what to do when I have a problem. It makes me sit back and think instead of rushing headlong into a situation
