Is this normal?

Sorry for posting here! Hoping to get some fast answers and this topic gets more traffic and I really need some quick advice!

I had a baby 13 weeks ago, had a normal albeit heavy period around eight weeks later, another normal period four weeks later which ended last week. Then two days ago I’ve started bleeding heavily again with clots. I’ve also been feeling really faint and tired (didn’t wake up until 1pm today, lucky my DP was home!) and just feel really heavy in my head and achey. Is this normal after a baby?

Please do call the hospital, hopefully it is nothing serious but that isn't normal and you need to be checked over. Hope you get seen soon.

Happened to me, and despite checking for infections etc, it turned out just to be one of those things. Get checked for anaemia as that’s likely what’s leading to the tiredness etc.

I had retained products AFTER having an op to remove them :-( could well be an infection and more retained placenta x and obviously low iron levels for dizziness

If you're worried @Scaredmum1995 and don't want to wait then call your maternity unit where you had your baby. They will be able to advise you.
What's normal for one could be totally abnormal for another - it can be normal to have heavy irregular periods after birth, equally some have very light periods until a year or more later.
More concerning is how you're feeling, it definitely sounds as though you may need a blood test to check for anaemia or a low dose of iron.
Whilst waiting for the call, have a sweet cup of tea and something to eat - banana, biscuits or a sandwich and rest.
Everyone seems to think we can bounce back pretty quickly after giving birth when the reality is our bodies take at least a year to return to normal (whatever that is).
Good luck op and congrats on your new bundle of joy too x

On my last C section some of the placenta was left inside me. Found out when ds was 12 weeks. I needed surgery to remove it all, also got an infection because of it.

I think periods can change after kids and clots for some people are v normal (I had big ones every period for decades) but if you think the blood loss may be excessive or there are other signs of Ill health it seems sensible to talk to gp today.
