To hate being put on speaker phone?...

I can't stand it. It makes the conversation ten times more awkward, and I strain to hear anyone because everyone thinks they can just all speak at the same time, so the conversation just consists of lots of 'what?' and 'pardon?'

Lol, my dad does this when I phone my parents, so he doesn't have to repeat the conversation again to my mum.

I start to say something and he says 'Hang on hang on....I'm going to put you on loudspeaker' 'Ok. Go!'

I feel like I'm addressing the Royal Albert Hall

I only have experience of this at work, it really pisses me off when you find out after you have had a conversation that three other people in the other office could hear you...

I think I have this idea that phonecalls are tidy little conversations, and when I'm on speakerphone, it just reminds me of how odd I sound when my voice is recorded. Phonecalls feel more 'intimate', for want of a better word...

Hideous things - my old boss used to use it all the time. It was like he was too lazy to actually hold the phone!

It is really hard sometimes, if several people are joining a conversation, to work out who is speaking or to be polite and not all talk at once because half the people involved can't see the other half.

I don't like it, makes me feel awkward. PLus you feel as though you have to say who you are each time "Polar Bear, over and out".
Very very rude to not let the other end know though!
