Treatment ideas - molluscum contagiosum?

My 7 year old son has just unfortunately been diagnosed with molluscum 😞 so far he just has a few spots by his armpit. Apparently it goes away on its own, but can take 2 years and in that time can spread. Think he caught from his cousin who had it quite badly.
I’d rather try and reduce or treat it quickly rather than the wait and see approach. Anyone recommend a treatment they’ve had success with?
Looking at zymaderm which has success for some people. £30 a tube though but willing to try. Molludab maybe seems a bit harsh to start with as some are very small. Or heard good results from lemon myrtle oil which I could mix with a carrier oil. There are so many suggestions Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Find the biggest ugliest one and pop it.

They will stop forming after that.

Be very careful, do it with a clean needle and clean it and keep an eye afterwards for infection

I think you are absolutely right to try to get rid of them ASAP. My daughter had one on her shoulder and dr’s advice was to ignore as I could create scarring. It grew to a mammoth size and spread to her ear, her head and finally to her face. She had them on her chin, in her nose on her cheek and under her eye. By this time she had had them for five years. We went to a dermatologist who burnt some of them and prescribed an expensive medicine to stimulate her immune system for those on her face. Her brother also picked them up and at one point had 15. He would get down to one and I would go yay nearly over...only for this one to bleed and start up a cluster. After 5 years we had his burnt off too by a dermotologist. If you look on amazon there are products which do work - but for us it was working through the cluster and then them bleeding and the whole process needing starting again which resulted in us just burning them off by a Dermo.

Thanks all for your help. So kind of you to spend time replying and sharing tips.
It seems the general consensus is either to pop the ‘queen’ one and remove the core which can hopefully lead to them all going. Very tempted to try that tonight and then use molludab on the others.
Or molludab seems to have had success but can be painful. As he’s 7 he may cope better with that than a baby would.
I’ve also ordered an aveno baby barrier cream with zinc in it which some people have had success with and lemon myrtle oil to mix into shower gel for an antiseptic type thing.
He also has a multivitamin each day.

This morning he’s pointed out two warty looking things on his toes today too! Posted a pic. Not sure if it’s molluscum spreading or verruca? Any ideas? I literally have never had anything like this so it’s all new to me.

Also very disappointed today to I think find one now on his younger sisters inside thigh!! I’m pretty sure it’s the same thing and I’m thinking it will be much harder to cover / contain. Both kids in one week...great!

My daughter has one moloscum in the corner of her eye between her nose and her eye. She is 8 and it will be 2 years in March and it is not shifting. Has anyone tried homeopathy, naturopathy? I know it is not a biggie but she is feeling self conscious with it.

DS had them and we tried molludab, plasters etc. In the end I read about Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. It’s a bit like Vaseline in consistency and I put some on each spot and they were away within a couple of weeks. No idea how it works but it did the trick for us.

Both my boys had this when they were little (12 & 9 now) and I read somewhere that covering them all in brown parcel tape could work to get rid of them- covered my two in tape for 24 hours then took tape off -They did then go quickly after but I think its probably because they'd been attacked as other posters have suggested. Hope they're gone soon!

Just wondering did you manage to clear the molloscum? If not I have some advice to share as I know it can take months, see the images of how my daughter has improved in weeks 😊I'm so chuffed, the first image was taken 27th July 2022 the last was taken today 11/8/22.

Pick/squeeze them. I did with all my 4 kids with no problems.

I was a bit 😬when DS had it a few years back as all info suggested it could last 12-24 months and unless we manically disinfected everything and boil washed all our towels and bedlinen we'd all catch it and it'd last for ages and ages. Which was worrying as we are really not up to managing that level of hygiene, let alone for months on end. In the end, used some molludab (there was quite a lot on his torso) which was a bit sore, and, whether due to that or not, it all cleared up within a couple of months - and none of us caught it, without us having to disinfect/boil wash everything.

Save your money. Our son had it for nearly 2 years. His anemic and as soo n as he came off his iron medication it appeared within a week. Tried loads of online ideas but none worked. I argued with his doctor that removing his medication had lowered his immune system as he still doesn't eat much. After a year of arguing they put him back on it and then it went almost as fast as it started. I have not let them remove his meds since. Try boosting your child's vitamin intake etc to increase the immune systems response to the virus. Don't allow scraping as it makes it spread. Bicarbonate of soda in the bath reduced the itching when it flared up.

My daughter had it for 2 yrs. I tried comfrey cream after mumsnet recommended it and it went within a week.

Hi greysofa
just a query how did you get the white head out of the spots. I have been using molludab for about three weeks and am not sure it’s making a difference to my DD
