Lighter periods after D and C ? Ashermans

Hi, I am looking for help and advice from anyone who may be going through a similar experience to me please.

I had a D and C at 12 weeks on April 2018. Since then straight away afterwards I noticed a significant change in my periods. I used to be 5 days (heavy flow - needed to use super tampons and pads) and now they only last 2 days (light flow - only use pads). They have been like this for 2 years now, I haven't tried to conceive again as that relationship ended and I'm honestly terrified about something being wrong which may lead me to have miscarriages etc.

I have booked a consultation with Mr Adrian Lower in London who is a specialist in Ashermans (this is after months and months of having trouble getting any info on this and being dismissed by other doctors saying there was nothing to worry about even though my body has clearly changed straight away after the procedure).
I am considering having a hysterosalpingogram to examine for any damage and then a hysteroscopy to divide any scarring if it (most likely there).

Has anyone else been through this? If so were you able to conceive and have a healthy pregnancy? I'm so depressed and worried.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Crumpet, i know this is a very old thread now and you may not see this, but I just wondered how you were getting on? I am in a similar position, an mva for a blighted ovum at the start of the year, it took 3 months for me to get a period again and since they have been extremely light, barely more than spotting. Nothing like my periods before so I am also concerned about scarring but not being taken seriously by the doctor.

Hi I have had just this experience. I had a D and C years ago and since then my periods changed and were much lighter. I had a scan years after to check on my PCOS, the consultant told me that too much of my womb had been scraped away and therefore there isn’t much lining to shed. I’m not sure how accurate that is. Anyway they’ve very slower got a bit more normal. They were very light for a long time. I’m not sure if it affects fertility
Maybe explain to your GP and request a scan.

My periods have been getting lighter over the past 7 or 8 years anyway and they got less painful after a d&c 5 years ago, I'd always needed to be topped up with pain killers before the d&c and for a few years afterwards I needed nothing but they started getting more painful again. I guessed it was whatever they scrapped out. So maybe this is fairly common?
