Unreasonable and petty things that put you off a person

Just wondered if anyone else can relate to this - I seem to be easily put off people due to very petty things in the scheme of things.

For example, last month I had to pick up a male colleague on the way to a work meeting. I had to go in his house to help carry some things, which meant going through his garden. He had washing on the line, including his pants. I don't know why but this made me lose respect for him and feel a bit embarrassed for seeing a colleague's pants (not sure if I was embarrassed for me or him). He didn't seem to notice though. He's in his late 50s and I really didn't want to see his pants under any circumstances!

Another was a guy I was seeing years ago. On one occasion he tried for a kiss and I wasn't expecting it, and seeing his lips pierced ready for a kiss when I was completely off guard just disgusted me. It put me off and I didn't see him again

Once something like this has happened my view of them is tainted. Is this a known thing or am I just an unreasonable cow?

Haha I'm thoroughly enjoying this thread, I must say. I suggest you all watch Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm... They're based on people and their pettiness... Both excellent!

Fake nails disgust me. I automatically think they are dirty. I think the gel nails phase is out of ‘fashion’ now thankfully?

Parents who wear parent-related slogan clothing (I find it worse when men do it though)...e.g. “Daddy Estd. 2018”

People who wear alcohol brag slogan clothing (“May contain alcohol” 🙄🙄🙄🙄)

Oh well, I'll still do it. You wouldn't know whether I'm wearing tights or leggings with my dress and boots anyway.

This made me laugh. I now exactly what you mean :). I think its partly to do with wearing the wrong style/size trousers.

People that think OCD means your house is immaculately neat and tidy!

...and that if you are clean and tidy then you must have OCD and people that self diagnose it...just GTF

People who let their off lead dog run up to strangers and jump on them and make no attempt to control them and apologise

The same people eventually amble over saying 'oh don't worry he doesn't bite' with a laugh while my small child is in hysterics. If I had a stick, I'd hit the dog away from us (and the owner!).

I'm instantly put off when someone says they don't like dogs or utter the words "It's not essential."

I know it's wrong but it's almost visceral.
