Cancelling my ocado smart pass?

Italianmeringuebuttercream · 29/03/2020 16:37

I currently pay 4.99 per month to get deliveries Tuesday-Thursday, however, at the moment I can't get a delivery on any of those days! Should I cancel? More of wibu to cancel really? At the moment I am able to drive to my local supermarket and we're lucky that there's lots of local shops within walking distance so I could do shopping locally to save petrol. I only use ocado for convenience as I usually work long hours but not at the moment! I feel I'm wasting my money on a service I'm not using. Wwyd?

Don’t you get priority deliveries? People with a smart pass do.

Personally I’d not cancel mine because I can’t get weekly deliveries in this unprecedented time of demand, but each to their own.

JohnCo · 29/03/2020 16:46

Do Ocado say why they are not delivering? I am still getting things delivered although it can take an extra day. I leave my front door open so the driver delivers to my porch and I wave from a window, that protects us both.

Italianmeringuebuttercream · 29/03/2020 16:48

I just went on (finally no queue!) Tried to book a delivery and the only ones available are 6.99!

The last delivery I got was ordered on 15th march and came on 25th with only a few subs and nothing important missing

@Bluntness100 I don't seem to? I guess I. Only paying for midweek so the cheapest option? I think I'm going to cancel for the time being. My dad keeps going on about being a long time customer blah blah but I pointed out I can get out. I don't begrudge people who cant, using ocado, even if this is their first time. Does that make sense?

I’ve got one with Tesco that I’ve not been able to use and I’m wondering the same thing. It seems silly to be paying £6.99 a month for nothing. I know it’s not really a lot but it will soon add up if the current situation continues.

WalesStar · 29/03/2020 17:01

Hi OP. I’m in the same boat, I pay £4.99/month and have not been able to book any deliveries recently. I’ve emailed them to cancel my smart pass and will see what they say. I wouldn’t mind suspending payments for a while until I’m able to get deliveries again but I don’t see the point in paying for something I’m not getting.

knittingaddict · 29/03/2020 17:14

In theory, yes. In practice, no.

I am a priority customer and can get on the website and fill my basket, but there are no delivery slots available at all. The system is laughable

I'm keeping my smart pass for now because there's a tiny chance that they may get their act together. I am seriously considering my options after this is over.

I'm thinking the only reliable option is to dig up the garden, plant some veg and keep a few hens and a dairy cow.

I would sell my soul for a £6.99 delivery right now.

theschoolonthehill · 29/03/2020 17:17

Yes cancel. I really doubt they will care. They and the rest of the world world have bigger things to worry about.

Italianmeringuebuttercream · 29/03/2020 17:19

@WalesStar yes I've just emailed to cancel. Who knows what'll happen? I fully intend to sign back up when this is all over. For now, while I can, I'll go by car

How did you even get on?! :O

Strawberrycreamsundae · 29/03/2020 17:33

I have cancelled my Anytime pass. I received a so-called priority email, went online and, surprise, surprise, no slots.
Prior to that I was 903,342nd in the queue at 5.00am yesterday 🙄

dudsville · 29/03/2020 17:35

I'm not with ocado, but the company I have a delivery pass with I'm not going to cancel because this is an unusual time and I'm glad they are prioritising deliveries, but I can afford my £40 pa fee.

knittingaddict · 29/03/2020 17:38

I think it's done on a regional basis. There are no delivery slots for my area. I'm in the South West.

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 29/03/2020 17:38

I pay as well for my smart pass, no delivery slots :(

BunnytheBee · 29/03/2020 17:41

I only recently bought an annual delivery pass with Morrison’s. I paid £35 for unlimited Tuesday-Thursday delivery about 2 weeks ago but before it realised I wouldn’t be able to get food delivered. My Last delivery was just over a week ago but was a weekend so wasn’t included in that. Now I can’t get a delivery (in those days anyway - not sure whether it’s only showing me those days) so I have paid £35 for nothing if I can’t get one in a couple of weeks.

Italianmeringuebuttercream · 29/03/2020 18:06

@knittingaddict oh I see, well I guess that makes sense.

I have an annual delivery pass with another provider that was due for renewal relatively soon. I've cancelled the auto-renewal as despite being a disabled non-driver I am not vulnerable or elderly enough so will not be able to use it for the foreseeable future. Not the end of the world, as I can at least walk to the supermarket unlike some, but when some form of normality returns I will be taking my custom elsewhere!

Tellmetruth4 · 29/03/2020 18:23

I’ve been a customer for eight 8 years but I think we’ll be parting company when this is all over. It’s a shambles. Priority should’ve been given to the vulnerable as well as people who’ve paid for passes and long standing customers. I’ve been getting my deliveries weekly from them, have been very loyal and now I can’t even put anything in my basket.

Their whole store is based online, why can’t they get their website, ordering and slot booking processes in order? I can understand the first 48hrs would’ve been hard on the site but they must have some of the best IT people in the U.K. on this.

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 29/03/2020 19:04

I have a smart pass and l don't get priority access. I'm going to email them.

FreakStar · 31/03/2020 09:44

Bloody hell! We've only been in lockdown a week- give them a chance to sort it out. You might be able to get to the supermarket right now, but what if you become ill and need to isolate? I will be keeping mine! £4.99 a month is worth it, even if you don't use it for a month you might use it 4 times next month.

knittingaddict · 31/03/2020 12:35

I'm keeping my smart pass for now too. If they get their act together it might be useful. If I can't get any delivery slots while this is going on I plan to ask for a refund of the months where it was useless to me and then decide whether to cancel.

I want to have a full on flounce over this, but trying to be pragmatic and put it in to perspective.

FreakStar · 01/04/2020 19:46

Those saying that they haven't got priority access- have you actually tried logging on? I haven't an an email or anything with a time or a link but when I go to Oado it says you have priority access! There are no slots avilable- but I did manage to get one for the 11th April when I logged on at the weekend- they are reading slots one day at a time. keep checking in!
