Where to buy freezer

chococo · 19/03/2020 13:45

Out of stock everywhere. I didn't think we would need an additional freezer, but we now will and can't find any under counter freezer, I did notice last week when I was browsing they were out of stock then.

My freezer died! (Yes it was used for dog food, but raw feeding is expensive) It took me hours to find new one, eventually a independent shop called and said he had a delivery and kept one by for me. All 5 freezers sold within an hour of being delivered.

No one believed me when I said that people had been panic buying freezers 🤷‍♀️

Unless your freezer is broken please please do not buy another one. It’s utterly pointless. I wouldn’t have been that fussed but my dog food order has only arrived 2 days ago and it was more or less full.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 19/03/2020 18:09

We've always had 2 fridge freezers. One in the kitchen with a small freezer section and one in the garage where the fridge is used for drinks and the freezer is used for batch cooking. Dh and I both work full time, live rurally and need it.

I wouldnt buy an additional one to stock up now. its panic buying that is causing all the shortages.

chococo · 19/03/2020 18:16

Can I just say I am not buying freezer due to current situation or stock piling. We moved houses couple months ago, we finally have ample space so I can have a extra freezer that we have forever wanted! I can hardly get anything in to the freezer compartment of my fridge/freezer. Like even to buy a tub of ice cream, I have to deliberate if I can get it in. We just never had the space for the additional freezer in previous home.
Am on a meal prep diet which is why I need it now so I can stack my containers with ease also additional space to put food that my children have

Euronics ? They have a network of local shops.

Thurmanmurman · 19/03/2020 18:17

People like you are the reason the shelves are empty. I hope you can’t get one.

Thurmanmurman · 19/03/2020 18:18

Sorry OP just saw your update, I retract my comment!

CatTangle · 19/03/2020 18:19

Have you tried very.co.uk OP?
Not sure where you are in the country, but they're showing as having under counter freezers available for delivery - some running low already but at least one available in 24h here...

AO. Com are brilliant. Fast delivery and can install and take away broken appliance ( you’ll need to pay extra.)
The delivery staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable and helpful.
Puts Curry’s to shame. They were amazing when my mum needed to move to a ground floor flat and supplied her appliances. I was able to coordinate everything from my home 200 miles away and was with her on moving day. Excellent company and they even text you a picture of the smiling truck that’s delivering your appliance.

ghostyslovesheets · 19/03/2020 18:43

but AO have no under the counter freezers!

Roselilly36 · 19/03/2020 19:07

I don’t think you will get one now OP, all sold out from what I have seen.

dontaskformedicaladviceonmn · 19/03/2020 19:16

Here. & they emailed me saying how drivers have sanitiser in their cabs. Will drop off if people are self isolating rather than bring in.

popgoesperfection · 19/03/2020 19:22

Wow I can't believe the stockpilers are going to such lengths!! Even the most expensive ones are out of stock Shock

HavenDilemma · 20/03/2020 04:49

Perhaps you should've thought twice before stockpiling then!!!!! Biscuit

GlamGiraffe · 20/03/2020 05:31

My sister and BIL own a huge kitchen and white goods company with 2 massive warehouses. They have sold every single freezer they had in stock and fridge freezers plus ordered loads more yo fill the demand theyve even sold every display ones from the show rooms. They normally get stock in and deliver the next but cant fulfil at that speed now because of so much demand the suppliers are out. I'm not sure how you'll manage to get a freezer now.
My own free er is a really tiny under counter one and as I only go shopping once every 6-8 weeks (disability related) it gets stuffed. I took out the bottom drawer years ago and you would be amazed what you master with tetris style organisation. I'd be amazed if shops have fish fingers or nuggets too.. here on trying to buy milk and bread first thing they didnt even have anything in the freezer!

k1233 · 20/03/2020 05:43

I bought my under bench freezer 15 or so years ago. I recommend measuring the height of your bench and checking the dimensions of the ones you see in store. I did that, went to the store and said I need something under 82.5cm high. Salesperson trots out one that's 85 cm high per specs and was offended when I said it wasn't a goer...

They are really handy for storing bulk cooking for work lunches. I mainly use my other freezer for raw meat etc and the food in containers goes in the under bench freezer.

Fr0g · 20/03/2020 05:47

I'm really really pissed off by Marks and Spencer encouraging panic buying by sending out "CAN I FREEZE IT? YES YOU CAN!" emails.
Why?

speakout · 20/03/2020 05:52

Having a second freezer is not unusual.

I have a second chest freezer in the garage, saves me a small fortune.I have had it for years.
I can buy reduced stuff in supermarkets really cheaply and put it in the freezer the same day. meat, whole chickens etc are often less than half price. It's useful for bakery goods and milk too.
My chest freezer has paid for itself many times over.

TheFastandTheCurious · 20/03/2020 06:11

But you already had one speakout totally different. I have one and 4 weeks before this all kicked off, we did a trip to Bury market and stocked up on meat, fish, poultry etc. I wouldn't do it now as it's selfish to stockpile, but I have been passing stuff on to those who are struggling to buy meat

kierenthecommunity · 20/03/2020 06:53

I can only imagine All The Freezers are being bought by the same people buying All The Milk. As after a 10 hours shift by the time I could get to the shops there was not a single pint to be had 🙄

SerenDippitty · 20/03/2020 06:57

I have two fridge freezers only because we kept the old one when we redid the kitchen a few years back.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 20/03/2020 10:18

@kierenthecommunity Try a milkman? I have one and it's brilliant. One less thing to worry about and they can drop off eggs and bread as well. It's nice to come home from night shift to see them on the doorstep.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 20/03/2020 10:51

People are panic buying extra freezers now?!
WTF is WRONG with people?!

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 20/03/2020 10:53

Not sure what your AIBU is either?

Waspnest · 20/03/2020 14:44

I don't think people have a problem with people owning 2 or more freezers, it's just why buy one NOW when we know shops are running out of everything already.

Redda · 20/03/2020 17:28

I haven't long moved house and was looking for an under counter freezer as I''d left mine in my old flat for the next tenant - it seems the stockpilers aren't they only greedy ones CHECK THE PRICE INCREASE FROM THIS COMPANY was £99 now £699 - disgusting.
