To think private health insurance won’t help...

... you get preferential treatment and get you to the front of the queue should Coronavirus become a pandemic. Someone I’m acquainted with bright her BUPA membership would mean she’d be absolutely fine if she got it. I think she’s naive.

Private health insurance doesn't usually cover emergency care.

Or chronic conditions or pre existing conditions.

I wonder what it does cover really sometimes....

Things private hospitals don't have around here: A&E or intensive care unit. If you're really sick, you get sent to an NHS hospital that has these things.

Private medical insurance is provided as part of our reward package because it means that we can schedule medical appointments around the demands of work (rather than have no control over when a hospital appointment comes through.) small bonus you tend to get seen sooner, but that is a by product rather than the purpose.
