To not eat this monstrosity

Leftover chicken, some leftover carrot and broccoli, day old mash potato, cabbage, rice, sausages all mixed together into a stodgy lump with cheese on top

I'm not a fussy eater at all but the combination of the leftover foods is making me want to vomit it looks like dog food

That’s grim! Too many things. Ex MIL would have loved it!

Sparklingbrook · 24/02/2020 19:43

Who was the chef? Grin

Etinox · 24/02/2020 19:43
Envy Literally a dogs dinner, and I’m not fussy! Why on earth did he mix all that together?!
WorraLiberty · 24/02/2020 19:44

Sounds awful. Who even mixes potato with rice? Envy

NotALurker2 · 24/02/2020 19:44

The cheese on top makes it sound not so bad.... I would eat it.

HollysBush · 24/02/2020 19:44

🤔 does sound a bit odd. We had leftover cauliflower cheese, chopped roast potatoes, quorn roast mixed with some freshly made cauliflower cheese tonight. And a pack of tomato and cheese tortellini between 3.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 24/02/2020 19:45

It’s the rice that really making me Hmm

I’d go down the chippy personally. Or have a jacket spud & beans. Or toast Grin

WorraLiberty · 24/02/2020 19:45

The cheese on top makes it sound not so bad....I would eat it.

Sounds like the equivalent of shit with sugar on Grin

HollysBush · 24/02/2020 19:46

Yeah, no. It’s the rice and sausages that make it too strange I think. Is that two days worth of leftovers then??

WalkingDeadTrainee · 24/02/2020 19:46

I would eat it.

thistimelastweek · 24/02/2020 19:46

I like a bubble n squeak. I like to minimise waste.

But just how many meals have contributed to these leftovers?

OdeToDiazepam · 24/02/2020 19:46

It looks and tastes disgusting and I don't like cheese on top of things except for pizza or pasta anyway! But the cabbage is like a bloody month old Envy and the combination is too wrong in my mind to mix together to try and ignore it to try it more than a tiny bite

OP posts:
Curiosity101 · 24/02/2020 19:46

Isn't that effectively bubble and squeak? (Although I'd have chucked the rice if it were me).

WalkingDeadTrainee · 24/02/2020 19:47

I would require sauce though. Maybe a chicken gravy?

OdeToDiazepam · 24/02/2020 19:48

The chicken mash and a few vegetables are from the roast yesterday, the rice and sausages are fresh he threw them in, I'm a bit worried what else he put in there as I wasn't in the kitchen the whole time but yes the 'stew' technique used to effectively boil together old mash and rice with meat is literally horrendous in my opinion!!

Help me

To not eat this monstrosity
OP posts:
BabyWenger · 24/02/2020 19:49

I'd fry it up like bubble and squeak with a fried egg on top with ketchup.

OdeToDiazepam · 24/02/2020 19:49

And I'm never a fussy eater I love eating you know like actual meals!!!!

OP posts:
BabyWenger · 24/02/2020 19:50

Oh. No, that looks rancid.

HollysBush · 24/02/2020 19:50

Why? Is this person very new to cooking??

OdeToDiazepam · 24/02/2020 19:50

Oh there's mushroom too

OP posts:
OdeToDiazepam · 24/02/2020 19:50

No he's a self described foodie that cooks gourmet food

OP posts:
OdeToDiazepam · 24/02/2020 19:50

Apparently this is a version of stew

OP posts:
ChicChicChicChiclana · 24/02/2020 19:51

I'm all for frying up yesterday's leftovers in a bit of butter in a frying pan. Topping off with grated cheese and grilling if appropriate.

But the foods in your OP sound like too many leftovers from too many dinners.

TotesGodsWill · 24/02/2020 19:51

Chicken, mash and leftover veggies fine, I’d quite like that

I avoid reheated rice though, and that and the sausages don’t seem to belong anyway
