To not eat this monstrosity

OdeToDiazepam · 24/02/2020 19:41

Leftover chicken, some leftover carrot and broccoli, day old mash potato, cabbage, rice, sausages all mixed together into a stodgy lump with cheese on top

I'm not a fussy eater at all but the combination of the leftover foods is making me want to vomit it looks like dog food

OP posts:
4DrivetPrive · 25/02/2020 18:31

Yup, OP got lost on the way to sporner's corner with that picture. Not envy. > Envy

Craftycorvid · 25/02/2020 18:37

Oh God, OP! Are you secretly living with my DH? That’s exactly what he’d consider to be a great way to use up leftovers. I have to keep a really beady eye on any single portions of food in the fridge lest we wind up with veggie chilli/mac’n’ cheese or stir fry with lasagne combos. Envy (definitely not envy(.

Holdencaulfieldshomeboy · 25/02/2020 18:39

Omg, you can't eat that! I've seen the picture. It looks like cat vomit.

Flamingle18 · 25/02/2020 18:51

My dp did similar yesterday with the sunday dinner left overs but mixed mushy peas in with it 🤢

Rachel709 · 25/02/2020 18:56

My husband would love that muluch.

Andpppy · 25/02/2020 19:14

No wonder the life span is moving in the wrong direction. Way too much starch and fat. Little protein or fibre. It will taste of little but salt and would induce arse splitting constipation. For Christ’s sake don’t fart after that - t’will blow the gusset out. Grilled salmon with a little ginger and chilli in a bed of noodles with some stir fried mange tout. It costs less than fish a chips, takes less time than it would to acquire fish and chips and dies not induce hardened arteries or Humpty Dumpty muffin top.

MulticolourMophead · 25/02/2020 19:20

That concoction looks evil. I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.

I'm all for using leftovers, but you have to have some idea on making a flavourful meal of them.

thesunhasgothishatontoday · 25/02/2020 19:21

I love leftovers but that's grim. LTB

CasanovaFrankenstein · 25/02/2020 19:34

Not gonna lie. Not read the thread. Couldn't get through the initial description. Boak.

PunishmentSnart · 25/02/2020 19:36

The colour of brain comment made me laugh out loud Grin

OP he’s trying to kill you, that’s the only logical reason for boiling this shite together.

As PP have said veg lovingly fried in a heap of butter with loads of gravy or a fried egg = perfect bubble & squeak. He really didn’t need to boil it all & add rice & sausages, I mean wtf- why did he over complicate something that could have been so quick & simple??

PunishmentSnart · 25/02/2020 19:37

I’ve also got visions of him making pancakes with this rolled inside tonight Envy

masterchef98 · 25/02/2020 20:04

I dont mind leftovers but I think there is too much trying to make something new out of them. Just put what you want on a plate and eat it.

Harls1969 · 25/02/2020 20:28

I'm not fussy and I was thinking it didn't sound too bad (apart from the rice - pretty yucky in my opinion anyway but never with potato and I'm always slightly concerned by leftover rice). Then I saw the photo and it does look a bit like something that didn't agree with a dog! That said...if someone cooked it for me I'd probably eat it 😂

ToniHargis · 25/02/2020 20:31

Bubble and squeak type leftovers. Nothing wrong with them if it's from a day or two before. Come on! That's no different from preparing a meal the day before, as long as you're not scraping it off everyone's plates.

bemusedmoose · 25/02/2020 21:38

I was going too say just give it a go, I would as it might actually be tasty

But then I saw the photo and it reminded me of when my dog vomited sardines all over the carpet and now I don't think even an entire bottle of ketchup could get me to eat it so you have my sympathy!!!

theoriginalmadambee · 25/02/2020 21:52

Please OP come back and tell us if your dh spend the day in the loo.

Btw there is another thread asking for recipes with sausages, perhaps your dh is willing to share his gourmet recipe Smile.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/02/2020 23:25

No wonder the life span is moving in the wrong direction.

Never mind the nutritional value, being faced with that mulch would surely sap your will to live.

Dillydallyalltheway · 26/02/2020 07:36

This is definitely something that my 32 year old son would make lovingly Shock Shock for my daughter in law and his 5 year old son!!

Samlew89 · 26/02/2020 09:00

Oh wow, I probably would cry if I thought I had to eat this....there with using leftovers rather than waste but come on that's not gonna work. Poor you!! Boiled sausages is just wrong. I don't think my dog would eat it. Mind you she's probably fussier than me!! Hope the pizza was enjoyable haha x

Willow2017 · 26/02/2020 09:23

Tell him its not gourmet unless its on a roof slate😉
But that mess would still be shit on a shingle😝😝😝

What a disgusting combo. Why didnt he not just reheat the veg and chicken? Who the hell adds rice to mash?
How the hell do you boil that combo in water?

Aglet · 26/02/2020 09:56

I guess this is what some would call" fusion"! We call shit like that "bish bosh". Dunno why.

Barmychick · 26/02/2020 16:05

Sounds like my old mum shit with sugar on it ! Hilarious!

FizzyIce · 26/02/2020 16:09

Why is it so grey ?!

Merryweather80 · 26/02/2020 17:24

That looks horrendous 🤢🤮 not a chance in hell would I eat that. It would reappear, probably looking exactly the same!

Run, run for your life - to the local takeaway!

Woolyheads · 27/02/2020 09:27

I eat stuff like that, because I hate waste. I don’t enjoy it though.
