To not eat this monstrosity

OdeToDiazepam · 24/02/2020 19:41

Leftover chicken, some leftover carrot and broccoli, day old mash potato, cabbage, rice, sausages all mixed together into a stodgy lump with cheese on top

I'm not a fussy eater at all but the combination of the leftover foods is making me want to vomit it looks like dog food

OP posts:
squeekums · 24/02/2020 23:11

I wouldnt even give that to the dog

SnoozyLou · 24/02/2020 23:15

I thought I was done with the morning sickness but I think it just came back.

RainbowMum11 · 24/02/2020 23:15

It was good until the rice!!!

FlorencesHunger · 24/02/2020 23:26

You did well to try even a little bit, if that was presented to me I would have promptly vomited. The visuals would set me never mind the taste!.Envy

Loving the responses though

PickAChew · 24/02/2020 23:40

It looks grim, tonight, and he's planning on reheating it for his lunch, tomorrow? 🤢

Ninkanink · 24/02/2020 23:47

He can’t safely reheat it; He’ll have to eat it cold tomorrow. Mmmm, cold ‘stew’!

Squigean · 25/02/2020 07:08

Sounded extremely unappetising, looks even more disgusting than that.

Think it's referred to as 'hash' isn't it? Such as 'Turkey Hash' after Christmas to use up all the left--overs that no one wants to eat. Adding cheese on top makes it better apparently. Though your partner, OP, has blown it out the water by adding new stuff to left overs.

My mum had (still does) a love of mixing left-overs together. After a childhood of that I now have an in voluntary gag reflux when I heard the word hash (relating to food) or 'stew' (worse if everything is in the stew, especially the potates).

These are many foods that shouldn't be mushed-up together then cooked. Even when these foods are nice (separated) on the same plate.

littlekerry8 · 25/02/2020 17:31

It looks like a dog vomited .. ate it and then vomited again Grin

SpamCat · 25/02/2020 17:33

I might eat it if it wasn't for the rice. Reheated rice is really dodgy and can give you food poisoning.

1forAll74 · 25/02/2020 17:35

It looks like regurgitated dog food , but some birds may eat it in a bird feeder outside.

Marcipex · 25/02/2020 17:40

It was okay till you said rice Confused

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 25/02/2020 17:40

Sweet jesus. I'd be sending it, along with a description, to rate my plate (and the local poison control centre) 🤢

messolini9 · 25/02/2020 17:42

No no no.
That pic is a crime scene OP.

No he's a self described foodie that cooks gourmet food
Hmmmm .... Confused

GiveHerHellFromUs · 25/02/2020 17:45

Was this made by your partner or your 5 year old son?

Happygirl79 · 25/02/2020 17:46

It looks disgusting
I couldn't eat that.. Not even if I was really really hungry
Have a sandwich instead

BestestBrownies · 25/02/2020 17:46

Why the FUCK did I open this thread at dinner time?!?

Not hungry anymore Envy

SpamChaudFroid · 25/02/2020 17:56

I know a "foodie" who posted a photo last night that looked just like that, except it used to be was a spiced roasted cauliflower.

How do they all manage to achieve that shade of grey? It's like alchemy!

wornoutboots · 25/02/2020 18:00

Unsure about the rice, but the rest sounds nice to me

cuparfull · 25/02/2020 18:03

Oh my .... That is particularly revolting. Even decent cheddar won't enliven that mush. Check your life insurance policies.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/02/2020 18:10

How do they all manage to achieve that shade of grey?

In this case, red cabbage which isn't acidic enough would do it.

A whole red cabbage can be stored for a long time, uncooked. And of course it will last if you pickle it. But this seems to have been cooked, unacidicified leftovers.

It looks like loft insulation that has been left in a ditch for a month

Brilliant description.Grin

I think the OPs OH has created the most disgusting concoction to ever masquerade as 'dinner' - but using ingredients which in different combinations and appropriate cooking methods could have been something fairly nice.Confused

Wilkie1956mog · 25/02/2020 18:12

I usually enjoy bits of things fried up with mash but that's a bit TOO much of a hodgepodge! No thanks!

Vynalbob · 25/02/2020 18:16

Sly
' I never want to be left in the kitchen to do anything at all ever again'

Seems his plan is working out.

I started thinking bubble n squeak till rice and sausage was mentioned then you showed the photo and said it was boiled.

No, just no.

YANBU

Ruddle91 · 25/02/2020 18:17

Without the rice and sausage - yes I'd fry it up and eat like bubble & squeak with brown sauce.

Honeybee151172 · 25/02/2020 18:20

Omg that's beyond rank. I wouldn't even feed it to a dog.

OrchidJewel · 25/02/2020 18:28

Have you ever seen pimple popper?
