To not eat this monstrosity

Leftover chicken, some leftover carrot and broccoli, day old mash potato, cabbage, rice, sausages all mixed together into a stodgy lump with cheese on top

I'm not a fussy eater at all but the combination of the leftover foods is making me want to vomit it looks like dog food

We disagree a lot about cooking as you can probably tell

He told me he was making stew tonight and got very defensive when I said that doesn't look like stew (as I ventured into the kitchen hoping to see a lovely stew like mixture and instead saw rice and red cabbage boiling in a big pot and I knew at that point what he was going to do with all the rest on the side)

I showed him pictures on google of what stew is meant to look like, delicious, rich stew Sad

Add it to the FB 'rate my plate' there are some truly vile looking plates on there.

OneHanded · 24/02/2020 21:26

Easy jambalaya in the making without the mash and no need to add cheese then

AriadnesFilament · 24/02/2020 21:32

i think you need to ban him from cooking ever again.

Ellie56 · 24/02/2020 21:33

I think even the dog would turn his nose up at that. It looks grim OP.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 24/02/2020 21:35

I keep looking at your photo and re-reading the description, and totally stuck on WHHHHYYYY???

Why would anyone think it’s a good idea to boil precooked meat, veg and mash into grey mush? It’s not “stew” part of the point of which is surely that it all cooks together to add flavour?? It’s goop bunged in a pan with water! On the plus side, your photo will be pinned to my fridge and should be something of a weight loss aid...

I hope your Dominos is delicious 😄

Oldraver · 24/02/2020 21:36

Day old mash is fine but not boiled up with that lot

FenellaVelour · 24/02/2020 21:43

Rate my Plate on Facebook would have a field day with this

ForagingForFaerieGold · 24/02/2020 21:45

So...he's a sadist AND a masochist?
I'll say the same thing I say about pot noodle.

THAT'S NOT FOOD!!

Dustarr73 · 24/02/2020 21:47

He must fancy a day off work tomorrow. If that doesnt give him the trots, nothing will.

StuckBetweenDarknessAndLight · 24/02/2020 21:50

Are you on FB OP? Rate My Plate would have a field day with this specimen!

StuckBetweenDarknessAndLight · 24/02/2020 21:51

Ha! Cross posts Grin

Eckhart · 24/02/2020 21:53

He's concerned about your lack of grace? He's served you a plate of sick with cheese on!

OdeToDiazepam · 24/02/2020 21:57

I enjoyed a delicious veggie supreme with sides to myself Smile

Herja · 24/02/2020 22:01

Whatever the fuck that is, it is not ok. I have a binge eating disorder, I've eaten all sorts of wierd shit in desperation, no chance of me ever eating that...

Whatever you do, OP, don't share your pizza. Eat it right in front of him, with great enjoyment, but share none.

Bezalelle · 24/02/2020 22:07

I would eat that Blush

SapphireSeptember · 24/02/2020 22:36

It looks like loft insulation that has been left in a ditch for a month.

Okay, that finished me off, I've been giggling all the way through but that had be properly laughing.

How can red cabbage last the winter? HOW? I love read cabbage but wouldn't eat it if it'd been hanging around for months (not that it would have a chance to cos I'd eat it.)

Pasty mashed potato is the work of the Devil and can get in the bin, I like lumps in mine (although i do like herby mash.)

And who the fuck puts mash in a stew? Yes you can serve mash with stew, but on the side, not actually IN it. Even I know that and I can't cook!

ScrambledSmegs · 24/02/2020 22:37

He seriously describes himself as a foodie? Does he realise that's someone who's discerning about food, not a walking garbage disposal unit?

HaddawayAndShite · 24/02/2020 22:41

He’s a “gourmet cook” but is saving rice? Confused I’d be avoiding everything he cooks from now on.
Still not sure how you boil mash, it looks dry not wet and sloppy from water?

YawnYawnYawnYawnzy · 24/02/2020 22:44

Eugh.

Are you in a relationship with this man? Are you going to have to kiss him later? 🤮

Octopuscrazy · 24/02/2020 22:58

This thread has me dying with laughter. I'm about to wake the baby up!
Good on you OP for getting domino's.

Ninkanink · 24/02/2020 23:03

Rice is absolutely fine to reheat if it’s been cooled down correctly and stored properly. We do it all the time.

theoriginalmadambee · 24/02/2020 23:05

But mash with rice that would just look like a maggot infestation surely?

Eckhart · 24/02/2020 23:11

But mash with rice that would just look like a maggot infestation surely

Eww this is getting worse.
