I find this difficult as I was bullied as a child so often panic . My daughter is 10 . She talks to people in her year but doesn’t really have any close friends . She is friendly with children the year below .She also has friends at her drama group and round our street .
School have said it’s a concern even tho she seems quite happy in her self . I have a meeting with school next week but we have already had the chat . She just doesn’t seem to click as best friends with anyone in her year . But has good friends the year below . Apart from when she goes to secondary school ( where her friend from drama group will go ( I don’t understand the issue in her having younger friends

Academy she is doing well , no particular issues with her being bullied . She tends to play in big groups rather than having a special friend .

I don't understand what the school is worried about either, though they must have some reason. You can't see her at school but they can - maybe something is going on she hasn't told you.
However I don't believe children must have a best friend or should always be interacting, sometimes it's better they have a group and not one particular friend. And some kids like being on their own.
Meet with the school and try and listen to their concerns rather than go in being defensive- they are not criticising her just trying to help. Maybe you saying she has plenty of friends outside of school and is perfectly happy will be enough to reassure them she doesn't feel lonely or isolated. I'm sure it's just the relatively new emphasis on mental health etc.

I wonder if it’s a mental health based idea . Glad they care , I think they have issues with friends when she goes to secondary school
