Housing:To fake a local connection?

Hey guys I am in a bit of a predicament...
I need to move to a certain area as my parent is very ill and needs care for the next 6 months - a year hopefully longer but my property needs a local connection for other swappers.

I have found the perfect place for me But they don't have a local connection other than the fact they lived here and left 3 years ago aibu to try fake a local connection for them? I don't know how they check... I have an address they could use but I am just so desperate and have been looking for a swap for months.

Any ideas? :(

Isn't your sick mum the local connexion? (Sorry- I've no experience of how that works)

Hoik · 24/02/2020 12:51

Do you wan the people you're selling with don't have a connection to your current area?

Don't try and fake one, if you're caught then it will mean the whole swap falls through. You could try and say their connection is that due to living there previously this family have strong social links to the area and are supporters of the local community.

@MatterhornMadness

Ah I'm fine with the local connection to the other house it's the other person that doesn't have a local connection to here :) x

She lives here but moved 3 years ago and online it says must have lived here 3 years out of the last 5.. Not sure if they would be tight about the extra year

@Hoik thank you yes I could try fight for that, especially because she had to leave due to domestic violence but that is over now and she wants to come home

Ah, I get it now, sorry. I hope it all goes through for you and good luck with your mum Thanks

If the authorities understand the reason you need to move and that you've been trying to get a swap for a while, hopefully they will be lenient about the conditions - it's not like there's someone else desperate to have your house, and you being able to help with your parent is a really good reason for the swap.

Thank you :) yeah my mum had a carer and I witnessed them pushing her out of the door and she tripped so I don't want anyone else caring for her now and exactly unfortunately my house isn't a wanted one, I'll ring my housing officer up today and have a talk about it and see how lenient they can be :D thank you everyone for being so kind.. Thought I would get a load of abuse haha
