If you down load the app 'testflight' blue background with a propeller on it. Then open the mumsnet app you can now filter out posts only by the op...

You can thank me later!!

OP posts:
PleasantVille · 22/02/2020 08:45

It's not something that particularly bothers me but I can see it leading to less discussion.

If the OP has a CF parking situation is anyone really interested in anyone else's posts? Don't we all just want to know how it ends up, do posters take the time to read all the responses that repeat the same old stuff that appears on every parking thread?

It will be interesting to see if engagement drops off

thethoughtfox · 22/02/2020 08:47

How do I change the OPs posts to green in settings?

GinandGingerBeer · 22/02/2020 08:53

OPisnt referring to highlighting OP's posts, she means only seeing the OP's posts and not the replies.
I have TestFlight OP, have deleted MN app but it says I don't have any apps to test. Sad

user1496146479 · 22/02/2020 08:57

I have this too. Love it, much easer than scrolling through looking for the green posts or having to search. Don't knock it until you've tried it!!Grin

GinandGingerBeer · 22/02/2020 08:57

It depends on which device/platform you're on @thethoughtfox

Cornettoninja · 22/02/2020 09:00

@PleasantVille maybe it will but i don’t think it will do that dramatically. It will possibly reduce the number of posts asking for updates or speculating on where the OP is which are pretty pointless anyway and not really ‘discussion’.

There were concerns that the voting option would reduce discussion and I really don’t think it has. Generally people have a compulsion to write what they want to say anyway - even if it’s been said multiple times already Grin

I don’t think MN will ever do it, but I find quoting tends to promote more discussion although a thread can quickly become dominated by two individuals which I can understand not wanting on MN.

Just on a lap top/ Apple

What’s the point in that? Watching the op converse with themselves?

Fedupofdoingit · 22/02/2020 09:08

Downloaded it, then downloaded MN app, comes up with no apps to try. Seems you have to have an invite, so waste of time. 🤨

MilkGoatee · 22/02/2020 09:18

Two things I would like to see (that were used on a different platform) is that you don't need to remember where you were in a long thread you want to follow. And that messages allow you to click back to the message someone responded to, because sometimes it just doesn't make much sense. Saves on the quoting of messages one responds too, also, as that is tedious.

GinandGingerBeer · 22/02/2020 11:10

@Crymea Think it'd be useful for the threads where posters don't bookmark but just fill it up with "watching " "following" "cheeky placemark" or if it's a new post with lots of replies and you just want to check if the OP ever came back.

GinDrinker00 · 22/02/2020 11:12

I wasn’t even aware there was a mumsnet app! 😱

anon2000000000 · 22/02/2020 11:34

I am trialling this at the moment. It's so much better than the regular app.

NotYourTypicalNerd · 22/02/2020 11:55

The trouble with this is that perhaps someone will only read the OP posts and then 'cancel the chq' as they haven't read everyone else's responses and everyone is saying the same thing that doesn't really need repeating?

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 22/02/2020 12:01

It's not just the OPs posts you can do this to.

It's not the same as highlighting the OP's posts as you can "filter" then all their posts are displayed in a list of their own so you can read through them without having to scroll through the whole thread watching for the highlighted posts.

The other benefit is you can do this for anyone's posts and it's actually really useful. Especially when someone is being a goady fucker and you want to see if they've acted like an arse all through the thread.

Also, you can do it for your own posts ie see them all displayed in a list of their own. So if you can't remember (this may just be me Wink) if you've already posted your insightful and frankly genius reply, you can check Grin

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 22/02/2020 12:04

@NotYourTypicalNerd I think you'll always get the ignorant arses who post "not RTFT" and then go onto say the exact same thing as anyone else and think they're great for suggesting this

However, such people can be safely ignored and scrolled past.

HaudMaDug · 22/02/2020 13:08

Fine for simple everyday recommendations but not much use for informed discussion if you only have the OPs opinion to agree/disagree with. You need to read through other posters opinions not just the ones you argee with to educate yourself.
