To ask if there is a strapless bra strong enough?

Toffeecoffeee · 20/02/2020 20:55

Im a bridesmaid next year and the dress is strapless, I have quite a large chest (34H) and just wondering if there are any decent strapless bras out there that are up to the job of keeping my boobs as close to my chin as possible??

Or if anyone has any tips/ tricks that could help hold them up whilst also keeping them secure?

Keeping my fingers crossed for a miracle!

Seamstress altering your dress should put boning in to support.
Strapless bras for bustier ladies are torture and end up making bust look like a rubber ring.
I wore this one as bridesmaid.

I like the wonderbra strapless. I also agree to get the bridesmaid dress properly fitted so it's tight and well structured with boning (you may need to add this in if it's a cheap dress)

I had an elomi basque when I got married and it worked a treat.

Eemamc · 20/02/2020 21:55

I’m not as big as you, but the only strapless that had stood a chance is the wonder bra ultimate. I wore it for my wedding. I’d go to a shop and see if you can try one on. Fortunately have a wonderbra shop not too far from me. Good luck!!

I like Curvy Kate Luxe strapless bra (32g)

loutypips · 20/02/2020 21:58

Have a look at curvy Kate. The wonderbra strapless is also pretty good. Holds up my ff's fine!

Justmuddlingalong · 20/02/2020 21:58

I've got the bravissimo one mentioned upthread, the evie. I'm a 32f and while it's not totally comfortable, by God it keeps my boobs where they should be. Don't try to buy off the shelf. Go and get properly measured. Bravissimo are great.

Isadora2007 · 20/02/2020 22:02

The wonderbra ultimate strapless. I went up a backsize and down a cup size so got a 38G though am 36GG/H

It did the trick and my boobs look fab in them but it’s not that comfy and I am
Always glad to remove it! 😂

Ginfordinner · 20/02/2020 22:02

I have no advice as I have the opposite problem to you, but IMO it is rather thoughtless of the bride to decide on strapless bridesmaid dresses, especially if the fitting is going to be rather tricky.

JoyceDivision · 20/02/2020 22:05

Wonderbra ultimate strapless.

I used one when I was a bridesmaid ith a strapless dress. 40f boobs.

Note I used it, wire it sounds like it's an item of clothing. It is not. It is a piece of construction that allows huge boobs to defy the laws of gravity ALL DAY. I took it off at the of the day and oh my word it felt so good peeling it off, but on all the photos my boobs look magnificent! Grin

Daftodil · 20/02/2020 22:07

Agree Bravissimo are fab, but if you can't get one, could you speak to the bride about a plan B eg. wearing a little cardigan or something over the top.

Up thread someone mentioned getting a seamstress to alter the dress. I had to do this for a bridesmaid dress as my big bras come quite high up into my armpits so I needed an extra bit of fabric under the arm holes to make sure the bra couldn't be seen.

Bloodhoundgang · 20/02/2020 22:07

Another vote for the wonder bra ultimate strapless. I agree, you'll be peeling it off your skin at the end of the night but by gum your boobs will look magnificent all day!

ToPlanZ · 20/02/2020 22:11

Yep the wonder one, I'm a double F and it's the only one to give enough support that I've tried, or a decent basque

ToPlanZ · 20/02/2020 22:11

Wonderbra one!

MrsToothyBitch · 20/02/2020 22:12

Seanstress plus wonderbra strapless. The one that pushes in & up is fab. It keeps my FFs in a VERY plungy evening dress for 3hrs + vigourous Scottish dancing.

IHeartKingThistle · 20/02/2020 22:16

I love the Wonderbra ultimate strapless. Unfortunately I have lost mine which I am very upset about!

Ejmorgan · 20/02/2020 22:19

I treated myself to a 32h strapless last year from wonderbra of all places it is amazing it has what looks like hands inside to cup and lift and is so comfy I think I washed it 3 times a week and wore it ever day in the summer , may the force be with you x

HollyGoLoudly1 · 20/02/2020 22:26

Another vote for wonderbra ultimate!

AlCalavicci · 20/02/2020 22:35

If you can not get a comfy bra could you find a matching bolero jacket something like this which comes in 5 or 6 colours

drivingtofrance · 20/02/2020 22:39

Yep. The Wonder bra ultimate strapless.

Wear it a couple of times before the day. I got a row of blisters around my body from the silicone. After the first wear and wash though it was amazing. Stayed in place all day.

Unfortunately after a few years it broke! I had worn it a lot. Replaced with a twin pack of multiway bras from Next. Very comfortable indeed and does stay put. Much cheaper also.

Toffeecoffeee · 21/02/2020 18:46

Ahhhh thank you so so much for all your replies!!

I feel like I need to give the wonderbra a go!!

I heard that with strapless bras you go down a back size I don’t know if this is true?

With regards to boning the dress would that be possible on any dress? It’s quite slinky/ stretchy material.. I don’t want to post a photo incase anyone spots me 🤣

The Wonderbra one stops at a G cup. However it's incredibly tight so you might get away with a 36G depending on your shape and which bra you're a 34H in!
There are other though, including the Curvy Kate Luxe which goes to a J, again, it will depend on shape as to what will work. Some people can never get a strapless to work, even in the correct size.
If you can, take your dress with you to a Bravissimo and let them see what they can do.

Coffeeisnecessary · 21/02/2020 18:57

I would go down a back size, makes it really uncomfortable but holds up well!!

NotMeNoNo · 21/02/2020 19:13

I would suggest getting straps put on the dress. There may be spare fabric from shortening it or something. The you could wear an every day balconette bra and be really comfortable. Would the bride go for this? I suggest it because I'm a 32H and have never succeeded with a strapless bea, they always walk down to my waist. The only reliable way would be a made to measure corset and then fit the dress over it, which would cost a fortune.
