Internet dating

So I am single, age 45....have been doing some internet dating and it's so frustrating. Before anyone asks I have a busy social life and have hobbies where I meet people including men. So, my question is how does one get past the message stage, so many men are happy to answer questions about themselves but don't ask anything back so after a few messages where I feel I am asking the questions I stop sending any further messages because they don't seem interested nor do I want to meet someone who only seems interested in themselves and/or can't hold a conversation...How do I get past that? Any tips?

It's been a long time since I went internet dating but here's what I think:

Men on internet dating 'know' what they want so they won't contact you if you aren't it. If by chance they missed it and received a message from a woman, they will only respond with questions and interest if THEY are interested. Otherwise, they just answer your questions, maybe hoping you get the message and leave them alone.

So I suggest maybe if you must, send the message but don't keep asking questions until they return a similar level of interest.

PS: I never messaged a man first and got plenty of interest. On the other hand, my nice outgoing friend messaged plenty of guys, got strung along by several, got very frustrated.

Good luck!

Thanks, the internet site is Bumble. Women send the first message but can only do so to a man who has already indicated they are interested in you. So, it means that you don't get lots of interest from men who you have no desire to communicate with...

Do you think some of the men on there just want the ego boost of women chatting them up for once, rather than anything serious maybe?
