AIBU: comment about me looking young

Hi, TA in a school, im 24.
One of the older TAs was in the staffroom and was talking about a story in the news about an 80 yr old woman sleeping with a guy in his 20s. She was about to describe what happened and then stopped herself and said "I cant speak about this infront of (my name), she's younger than my daughter"
Bear in mind this was a staff room full of people and some were my age.

Im a 24 year old woman with a long term boyfriend. I know the details of the birds and the bees. I just happen to be a babyfaced, petite 24 year old.

Just needed a rant! Anyone have similar experiences?

That’s really patronising, especially talking about you in the third person. Is it worth a quiet word with her to explain why her comment was not acceptable? Does she have form for this sort of thing?

Also bear in mond, i wasnt sitting near this lady but i heard her say it from where i was sitting

I'm uncomfortable talking about sex in front of people who are younger than my adult children.

If it's the story I read, I wouldn't talk about it with someone of your age.

I wouldn't have put it as she did, though.

Ponoka7 · 13/02/2020 19:09

If you wasn't part of the conversation then she didn't address you in the third person?

LandMoor · 13/02/2020 19:09

People used to always do this to me didnt bother me at all.

Aquamarine1029 · 13/02/2020 19:11

You should tell her you don't appreciate being treated like a child in front of your colleagues. I certainly would.

managedmis · 13/02/2020 19:13

Well, landmoor, it'd piss me off and it should you too.

She said you looked 12?! Did you say she looked 120?

Doop1234 · 13/02/2020 19:32

@Ponoka7 but she was still talking about me; i wasnt sitting by her but i was near enough to hear;
I dont think some people understand that telling someone they look like a child is not a compliment, just like you wouldnt tell someone they looked fat, old etc. People should keep their opinions about people's looks to themselves,
Just because im short (5'0) and 7 stone 8 does not mean im a child
