Baby won't sleep unless swaddled

My 6 month old has been swaddled and this has worked well helping her sleep.

However she is now nearly rolling and we really have to stop, but she seems completely unable to sleep, because when her arms are free, she is sucking frustratedly at her hands constantly - she doesn't seem able to actually suck a finger or thumb properly to self soothe, or doesn't want to. She won't take a dummy, and at 6 months I really don't think it's a good idea to start forcing one on her.

Can anyone give any tips?

Things we have tried:

  • leaving one arm out of swaddling. We are doing this at the moment, but it seems to take ages for her to go to sleep and there's a lot of sort of shouting as she chews away at her hand.
  • a love to dream swaddle where she can move her arms a bit
  • going "cold turkey" (this was disastrous)

Things I am not interested in trying

  • co-sleeping/feeding to sleep (she has managed without this for the last 2 months, i don't want to reintroduce it as we stopped specifically because i was taking all evening & she was waking constantly.

Lots of sucking/chewing equalled tetchy gums here. How are her teeth?

If you do swaddle, will she sleep? She could be just a little late moving out of it.

Ee had dd sleep on her front with her head jammed at the top of her cot because that’s where she slept longest and quietest. I watched like a hawk that first time but that’s what she preferred.

Is she teething? Have you tried something like teething granules before putting down to bed?
Also, does white noise or anything like that work? Worth a try during day time naps to make new sleep associations
