What would be your perfect Valentine day?

Valentine’s Day can be stressful for all parties involved. Regardless of how long you have been together!

I would love a rose for every year we have been together and some sushi too.

A card and a cup of tea. My dream might just come true.

AhoyMrBeaver · 12/02/2020 21:20

Stressful, really? I've never thought of it as being anything but 'optional'.

MereDintofPandiculation · 12/02/2020 21:20

I'd be horrified if he spent all that money on buying 37 roses on the one day of the year when they're even more expensive. To find a vase of snowdrops from the garden on my desk would be quite nice.

Elderflowerasusualthxs · 12/02/2020 21:21

Sorry, true. Optional sounds much better.

It's only as stressful as you make it.

Surely if you've been together for ages you would've worked this shit out long ago?

Check out the the thread about whether the OP should send a card or not...

I'm guessing you've been partnered up long enough to be comparing the amount of roses you get to years?

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 12/02/2020 21:23

Dh and I are going to a spa hotel overnight and probably holing up there all nice n cosy (and eating and drinking loads) whilst grandma babysits the dc’s.
Next day we’ll have a lie in and a big breakfast before driving back to the chaos at home!

missmouse101 · 12/02/2020 21:24

To bugger off on my own somewhere quiet.

Littleshortcake · 12/02/2020 21:27

I am making a special Valentine's breakfast with dh and dc (will be quick as we will have to get ready for school). We have little teddies bought for them and dh and I will go out for dinner Sunday. He dc habe made cards at school so they are excited. That's perfect for me.

Narcheska · 12/02/2020 21:29

Cuddle on the sofa with DH watching Our fave tv shows. Maybe if we're feeling crazy order in some Oreo milkshake from the dessert place when the kids are in bed so we don't have to share

Somerville · 12/02/2020 21:35

Since it's coming up at the end of a very long and stressful week, my greatest wish is to be left alone. Unfortunately I have a tediously romantic DH who has something special planned. Sigh.

Maybe we can arrange one of those MN swaps, like for unwanted Christmas presents. Someone can send me a husband who shares my misanthropic mood, and enjoy a day of romance with mine?

WoodliceInSunderland · 12/02/2020 21:35

I'd love to go somewhere for a romantic weekend break.

Just me though, I'd leave him at home Grin

Megan2018 · 12/02/2020 21:38

Nothing stressful here!

I’d like a Chinese takeaway, lots of wine and sex - alas no takeaway here, and am EBF and bed sharing with our gorgeous Velcro 5 month old so there will be no wine or sex either. I expect there will be a fuck ton of chocolate instead and flowers.

Samhradh · 12/02/2020 21:43

Stressful?

NameChange84 · 12/02/2020 21:45

To not be single. I’ve never had a romantic Valentines Day Sad. I’d love to get all dressed up, go out for a fancy date with the man I love, really get lost in all the cheesy romance and feel loved up and special.

I know everyone thinks it’s overrated but it would be nice to have a special Valentines Day to look back on.

tillytoodles1 · 12/02/2020 21:46

I would wish that my H was still alive on our wedding anniversary. This will be my second one without him after 43 years of marriage.

Nowayorhighway · 12/02/2020 21:47

It not being a thing.

shinyredbus · 12/02/2020 21:48

I’m alone this valentines as husband is working - but I plan to have sushi and watch Van Helsing on Netflix after the kids are asleep. Sounds like heaven!!

ColourMyDreams · 12/02/2020 21:53

I don't understand where stress comes into it?!?!
My perfect one would be the husband out from under my feet doing his own thing while I get stuck into a good book with some fish and chips.
Much like any other Friday night here 😂

userxx · 12/02/2020 21:53

@tillytoodles1 43 years, bloody hell, you were both clearly doing something right. It must be hard without him 😞

tillytoodles1 · 12/02/2020 21:56

userxx We met when I was 18, got married when I was 19 and had two kids. I'm 63 now and never lived on my own before, now it's just me and the cat.

Ninkanink · 12/02/2020 21:56

We exchange cards and have a home cooked meal by candlelight with a good bottle of wine. That’s my perfect valentine’s day.

Pilot12 · 12/02/2020 21:58

I would love it if my DP would cook me dinner and clear up afterwards!

Nothing can be done about the actual day as he's at work and it's half term so I have the kids.

yippeyo · 12/02/2020 22:05

Waitrose valentines meal deal and some good telly.

Proseccoagain · 12/02/2020 22:16

Like tillytoodles to spend it with my DH who died two weeks after Valentine's Day two years ago. We had been together nearly 49 years.

tillytoodles1 · 12/02/2020 23:45

Proseccoagain It's hard to be on your own after so many years together
