Fully prepared to be told IABU but I don't know if I am so I'd like some opinions.

Builder coming tomorrow to do a short job. Been arranged for weeks. When arranged I asked what time he would come and was told he could only tell me on the day. Messaged again today as I need to go out at one point for 45 minutes (something important that cannot be avoided or rearranged) so I told him about this and asked if he could let me know if he was coming. He replied saying he'd give me 20 minutes notice.

I don't expect him to give me an exact time but AIBU to expect him to at least tell me if it'll be morning or afternoon? I can't just hang around the house all day waiting for him to appear!!! I understand he might have a few jobs on but he MUST be able to predict to a point what time he will come!

I understand not giving an exact time, but I agree that he should give you a rough guesstimate.

I’d text him back and say I’ll be out between 12.30 and 1.30, see you when I see you.

Good idea @TyrionsNextWife

Any other thoughts anyone?

Many would have given you a time and then come at a totally different one - if at all.

Ours have always turned up at the time agreed. He can't possibly be that flakey - he isn't doing the work completely when the whim takes him surely?
