The two popes being shown in school

My son came home with a permission slip asking if he is allowed to watch The Two Popes at school tomorrow. This is a 12a and my son is 9. We are a Roman Catholic family and he attends a Roman Catholic school. I have seen reviews and trailers and it doesn't seem appropriate. AIBU to say no he can't watch it? I don't mind him questioning the church and finding this own answers but it has to be age appropriate.

I always look at IMDB parents' guide. Here is the link for The Two Popes

www.imdb.com/title/tt8404614/parentalguide

I haven't seen it but there are lots of murders both on and off screen. I would say it is all child dependent. There is reference to child molestation too.

If you’re not happy with it, just say no.

I didn’t give permission for my DS to watch a 12 in school recently (he’s 10) and he just went to another class for the afternoon.

@TreeClimbingCat thank you that's really quite helpful and shows an unpleasant list of violence. It will be a no to him watching it. We don't allow any violent programs or games so he is not used to this kind of thing.

It’s violent. Accurate, but I wouldn’t let my 9yo watch.
