To cry big salty tears

I have a lovely life.

I have had since December- an upper UTI, a good going tonsillitis and now I have pharyngitis with sinusitis.

I am exhausted. I work long hours and I have 4 lovely but very busy children.

My parents help out when they're here with after school care which is amazing.

They've been on holiday for over a month now.

They were due back last week and had promised us a wee overnight while they look after the children.

This is something we get about once every 6 months at a push so I've been ridiculously excited and mainly planning to eat, sleep and talk to my husband uninterrupted.

They've now cancelled as they're staying an extra week.

I'm delighted for them and so glad they're making the most of their retirement but my God I am so disappointed.

So, a few salty tears and then a big smile as I coordinate tonight's rota of dancing/ band practice/ a solo talk and a PTA meeting. Not even started on my appraisal and presentation for work next week.

:-( Can totally understand the feeling of disappointment and overwhelm. Keep on keeping on OP. Sleep whenever you can & hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for being so kind. Its just a never ending cold. It will pass and I'll be much more rational. My mum keeps sending pictures of gorgeous sunsets while I spend my evenings working or ferrying children from activity to activity in the freezing all encompassing dark. I think the sending of holiday pictures should be banned until the lighter nights come in 🤣.

DH did the school run this morning and I slept until midday as on annual leave today.

I feel amazing. Amazing!

I think I just needed a proper sleep. Never underestimate the power of exhaustion!

I'm off to take on the world (the school run and dinner but same difference 🤣).
