To worry the school will question this injury.

I have a son who is 9 and has autism. He is very accident prone and most of the time I know who he got cuts and bruises. Last night I realised he had a bruise just under his eye and a slight one just to the side of it. Also a red mark on his head.

I asked him if he’d hurt himself. His short term memory isn’t great but told me he hit his head at school but this injury seems a bit extreme. I didn’t notice it when he cane out of school either. So I’m not sure if it just took a while to come out if he did it there or he did it at home.

He may well have done it at home. Last night he get very upset over something and had a meltdown. He was chucking himself all over the floor on the carpet but it doesn’t look like a carpet burn. OH took him upstairs away from Dd to calm down then he was thrashing about in his bedroom. He probably wouldn’t have noticed if he injured himself during a meltdown but I cannot say what he’s done exactly.

The marks on his head look like two different things. Wondering if he did one at school or the other at home.

Anyway, I am concerned the school will question this and I have no valid explanation.

He’s gone school with some beauty bruises before but I always have an explanation.

This has baffled me.

Should I be concerned. Will the school report me?

It looks pretty sure. Albeit a smallish injury. Bright red and purple.

You could always mention it to the school - 'Ds had one of his meltdown yesterday and these bruises have appeared. Please let me know if anything happens today'.

Just mention it to them. My DS walked into a tree on the way to school once and he had a stonking fresh bruise under his eye so I explained what had happened to the teacher when he went in. All was fine, definitely didn’t get reported...
