DH works shifts two days, two nights, four days off.

On his day shifts he'll get up a 5:30, in work for 6am, do a 10-12 hour shift with 1-2 hour break. Night shift starts at 6pm, again it's a 10-12 hour shift, with a 1-3 hour break.

After a night shift, he'll get 6-8 hours sleep and on his 4 days off he'll sleep to 10 or 11am most mornings (So 10-12 hours sleep). He's snoring loudly at the moment - I can hear him a floor away.

I think DH should get out of his b£**$% bed!

AIBU or am I just jealous and in need of strong coffee as I've been at my laptop and on conference calls since 7:00am!!!

Why should he get out of bed?!
His shift pattern sounds awful

I've never worked shifts like this but know a lot of people who do. It can play hell on their sleep.

If it bothers you a lot, try and work out why and talk to him about it (especially if you'd describe him as lazy once he is up and about). To be honest though it may just be that he genuinely needs that much sleep... or he just has no reason to get up so it enjoying the lie in.

It'd bug me too in your position, but in my case I'd definitely be jealous and unreasonable Grin

Both of your working patterns sound difficult.

His shifts sound awful. Being in work for 7am sounds awful. Please book a holiday, even just a weekend away. Or I’ll worry about you 😂

Is he a fireman? I work for the emergency services and work shifts but after my last night, I try to get up a bit earlier on the first day off so I don’t waste the next two. If he’s lying in bed til ten am on four days off, no wonder he’s knackered having to get up at half five when he’s back at work!
