For thinking I'm an absolute idiot

I've posted on here a few times, but this is the first time I've started a thread. I'm doing it because I'm clinging to the fond hope that others have made stupid mistakes that they would like to forget.

I've just apologised to an online website (that's not the daft part), after I received the skirt I'd ordered. The skirt was in what I thought was my size but when I tried it on it fell to my knees. I went on their website and said it couldn't possibly be the size I ordered (despite the right size being on the skirt lable). I loved the skirt so said I'd like a replacement if the sizing was right. I thought I was doing them a favour by suggesting they should look at the sizing of this product. About 10 minutes after posting to their website I realised I'd been trying on the skirt upside down.

In my defence the skirt is very ''beady' and I'd struggled to find the zip, and then straight after emailing the company for a replacement realised that the zip I thought opened at the bottom actually opened at the top. And I let them know (despite feeling like an absolute fool.)

Ponoka7 · 03/02/2020 18:52

You're going to make a lot of people feel a lot better about themselves, me included Grin

Thehop · 03/02/2020 18:53

Love this

Notonetojudge · 03/02/2020 18:53

Oh thank you ... that made me (and dh) howl !!!

puds11 · 03/02/2020 18:55

Grin you tit! Need a pic of this skirt now!

Billben · 03/02/2020 19:01

You remind me of my husband's German ex flatmate. She went trouser shopping one day. Tried on different trousers but they all had a baggy front. When she asked the assistant why all the trousers were like that, she was informed that she was in the maternity department.
This same girl used to cycle in London. One day she had to stop at the traffic lights and all of a sudden she just fell off her bike. Why? Cos she forgot to put her foot on the ground when she stopped 😀 Boy, I miss her 😀

SunOnAll · 03/02/2020 19:02

Please post a picture!

Knittedfairies · 03/02/2020 19:08

But does it fit?

flopsytheflatcat · 03/02/2020 19:10

Grin that's bloody brilliant!! That reminds me of the guy who rang up Asda saying his pizza had no topping and then half way through the conversation he realised he'd put it in the oven upside down

Igmum · 03/02/2020 19:12

Love your post OP! (If it helps I managed to order baby size 4 shoes by mistake instead of adult size 4. They were very cute 😳)

MrsGrindah · 03/02/2020 19:16

Brilliant! I once spent ages in a changing room trying to work out why a sundress was really tight despite being correct size but had a huge flap of extra material...took it off and put it back on again... same problem. Then I realised I had put both legs into one leg of some culottes...

Lifeonmars77 · 03/02/2020 19:35

Hey at least you're not the guy here in sunny Merthyr Tydfil who phoned Asda to rant about the fact that he had bought a pizza with no topping on. Halfway through the call, it transpired he had in fact opened the box upside down!

I think the recording is still on YouTube somewhere Smile

somm · 03/02/2020 19:37

Sorry those who want a picture of skirt, but I've never found out how to post smilies on this site - never mind photos My current mobile phone won't even allow me to send photos/videos to others (too outdated apparently).

If it helps, it's a white, very beaded, skirt from ASOS, costing approximately £75 :-)

That’s nothing, OP.
I do far worse than that on a daily basis. In fact, only doing this would be a good day for me!

So pleased it's not just me :-) I stopped somebody in town yesterday to say 'I think you've put your hat on inside out'. Luckily she was grateful for my interference and mentioned 'You could have let me carry me on like that' :-)

Shannith, yes it is. Now I'm thinking as I parade around in my upside down skirt everyone will know who I am :-)

I moved to the Midwest USA and bought some leggings, started wearing them out and about.
They were quite snazzy Xmas ones.
Looked at them again in the online catalogue and realized they were thermal underwear.

somm · 03/02/2020 20:05

And to you MissScuito (sorry I missed you out earlier), yes that's the one.

Wearing it the right way round it does fit. I'm taking it on holiday with me in March (although it'll probably take up half my luggage allowance) and if any of you recognise the skirt please say 'hello' :-)

I got the job :)

scoobydoo1971 · 03/02/2020 20:12

Years ago I was lost in London, and late for a work commitment. I walked into a 'newsagent' to ask directions, having caught many magazine aisles out of the corner of my eye. So flustered was I about time-keeping that I failed to notice this was no ordinary 'newsagent'...until I got to the till and casually observed the fine collection of nipple clamps, handcuffs and demonstration model vibrators all laid out on the counter. The cashier was a hairy biker with a huge grin on his face, and he kindly directed me to my destination...once I got past the blow up dolls, and whips on my way out the door. We all have retail cringe moments :-D

FelicityBeedle · 03/02/2020 20:22

I have such awful balance I can never get in to a playsuit or a jumpsuit without overbalancing. You’re not alone

LakieLady · 03/02/2020 20:24

The other week, I wore a pair of very plain, high-leg, no-vpl knickers under a slim skirt.

During the morning, I felt a weird lump in my groin when sitting down. A trip to the lav revealed that I'd got my drawers on sideways, and put my leg through the waist. The "lump" was the bow on the waist.

And I once went to work in mismatched shoes: identical in style, but one black and one navy.
