I turned 30 last June and ever since have been thinking about having my third child. I have 5 year old twins. A family member recently told me that once you get to 35 your fertility declines rapidly and so I should start thinking about having another if I want more. My husband thinks this is ridiculous and that I'll be fine to conceive and I shouldn't be worried or thinking about it. I was originally going to wait until I was 32/33 and my girls were 7/8 before beginning to try for our third. But should I bring this timescale forward? If it happens before we would be fine with that, however I just wanted my girls to be a bit older before we added another.

Thoughts please.

Rather than asking for opinions, why don’t you do some research into declining fertility in regards to your age? Then you can make an informed decision based upon medical evidence rather than what someone told you.

I wouldn’t worry too much about this especially as you have already successfully conceived and had a term - or close to term if it was twins ? -pregnancy

I had my three children just aged 39 just turned 41 and 42 without any assistance or months of TTC in fact one was possible conceived on the contraceptive injection or days before I had it will never be sure.

I’m always that I am not in the majority but there are a decent number of women who have babies in their late thirties and into their early forties.

There will be loads of women your age who will not even be considering if their fertility is about to decrease, I suspect. But of course it does......

Good luck with whatever you decide
