To just feel really sad about this

I know I'm not unreasonable to feel the way I do, but, I just feel really down today Sad

My wonderful Nan is 87 and in the last 10 years she has had breast cancer which was operated on, it spread to the bones later. She is not a well lady.

In between all of the cancer, she has had a problem with her eyes (possibly related?) - she was having bleeds behind the eye and had to have injections for it.

She went to see the eye clinic today and has basically been told she is losing her sight SadSad

I'm just so gutted for her Sad it feels so unfair! I know there are many people worse off but today I can't help but think it's all a bit unfair.

She seems to have taken it relatively well (although it may not have sunk in yet). She lives in her own home which is a flat and because she has lived there a long time, she knows the layout well. I'm now trying to plan ahead for what she will need in the coming months.

Thanks for reading and letting me get it out!

Oh OP, I'm so sorry to hear about your poor Nan. Don't feel bad about people being "worse off" - your Nan has been in the wars and it's totally fine to feel shit about it.

Sending you all the love, flowers and gin (if you want one) Gin Flowers

That's heartbreaking. I feel for you both, I don't have any advice but sending a virtual hug.

Hi, my man is a similar age and she has the injections too. I'm sure she was told the bleeds were a result of high blood pressure? It's so sad, and must be awful to have to have these injections in your eyes.

Does she have it in both eyes or just one?

worriedandannoyed · 18/01/2020 19:11

Obviously I mean my nan not my man!

PumpkinPie2016 · 18/01/2020 19:32

Thank you all for your kind replies Flowers

worriedandannoyed yes both eyes -it must be so awful because it gives me the creeps just thinking about it.

It's awful partly, I think I feel worse as it's one of those things that you can't actually fix for her. I guess it's a case of continuing to be there for her and ensuring we do all we can for her.

It's a real shame to lose her sight as she'll lose her independence. I hope it doesn't decline too quickly so she has time to adjust

Hi op. My Nan had breast cancer a few times. By the end of her life she was so so ill. I think she had lymphedema badly she used to be in a lot of pain before she ended up in a care home. I miss her so so much.Sad
