This is a ridiculous problem but bear with me.

I have a little cat. Last summer I overheard some neighbours bitching about her and me, saying she was shitting in their garden. They were laughing about their dog attacking her. Two blokes, and they way they referred to me was quite misogynistic (I live alone and find some men will try to walk all over me).

I spoke up over the fence and apologised for the poo. They had he good grace to sound embarrassed. I should have pointed out there are loads of cats in the neighbourhood - but to be honest she probably was pooing in their garden.

Last night a cat was making the most hideous rack, wailing louder than I have ever heard a cat - after midnight. My little devil was inside (I put her on a curfew to try and reduce the alfresco pooing), but I am worried everyone will automatically blame her.

Are people realistic enough to know over 20% of houses have a cats? Will I look like a loon if I nip round and say it wasn’t mine (our gardens back on to each other, I never see them).

Have just realised what a sad little window on my life this is😂😂

Yes. Don't do it.

Was it definitely a cat or could it have been a fox?

Think it was definitely a cat. But really really loud.

It Terrified my Wimpy cat who was hiding under the bed🙄.

I Think your right I won’t mention it (and am being a weirdo to think about it) if anyone complains I can explain she isn’t out at night and was fast asleep like everyone else😊

Thank you

Cleaning up cat shit is vile, cleaning it up when it’s not your cat is more so. Yabu to be surprised that other people mind.

Confrontayshunme · 18/01/2020 10:32

We woke up at 7am today to the most horrific noise. Apparently, January is fox mating season, thus the racket. It sounded like someone killing four cats with a trap.

Itwasntme1 · 18/01/2020 10:32

I don’t think that. On hearing them complain I kept her inside for 12 hours a day So she of forced to use her litter trays and made a toileting area in my back garden. I can’t totally eliminate the problem without turning her exclusively into an indoor cat but I have taken steps.

My point is I have lived her for over 10 years, and have cleaned lots of cat shit out of my garden. I have only had my own cat for one year. So not every cat poo will be hers. There are loads of cats in the neighbourhood.

As soon as you get a cat then any cat shit is automatically assumed to be your cat

I have an exceptionally timid cat who never leaves my garden and will spend all day in the garden, run inside to use the litter box, then straight back out again. No-one in my house, or my next door neighbours house, (15 people between the two houses) has ever seen her leave the garden. Yet the woman three doors down is adamant that she, and only she, is responsible for the cat shit in her garden

Itwasntme1 · 18/01/2020 13:46

😂 totally agree. The neighbour who complained has a very yappy little dog who barks for twenty minutes every day. However I am intelligent enough to realise there are a lot more dogs and theirs isn’t responsible for all the barking in the neighbourhood.

I have counted three cats in my garden today - mine Is still inside

My old neighbour reported my cats to the noise complaints people because they made his dog bark Grin

Literally expected me to stop the cats looking in the direction of his dog. Or to stop them sitting on the steps in our garden.

All the noise his dog made was down to the cats - even though the dog barks at anything any everything

He moved and told everyone where he lives now it was because of a noisy neighbour: funnily enough he’s already complaining about his anti social neighbours who make his dogs bark...

Itwasntme1 · 18/01/2020 16:38

Lyra that’s brilliant😂😂.

The strange this about my dog owning neighbour was his delight that his dog might have hurt my cat - laughing cruelly with other neighbour. And she was still only a kitten (seven months old, only newly allowed out).

I know not everyone is an animal lover, but why would a pet owner be happy about a kitten getting hurt. Horrible man.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were foxes, we have them and their screaming is so awful that it sounds like somebody is being tortured.

CarlyB23 · 18/01/2020 22:38

So they were having a good old giggle over their dog attacking your cat?
If I was in your situation, no lie, I'd collect every bit of cat shit in my garden and lob it over their fence.

Itwasntme1 · 18/01/2020 22:52

🤣 thank you Carly. I was starting to think I was going mad.

Of course not excusing my cats behaviour. And I am doing a lot to reduce her outdoor time.

But two grown men laughing about a dog cornering a kitten really made me mad. One of he men is an upstanding local business man who sells himself as a real animal lover. But he still had to play the big man to his younger male neighbour. Arseholes🙄
