To think that they can't take back an unconditional offer

I'd really appreciate some advice please. I applied for a job last year and was given a conditional offer which I accepted. Initially everything went smoothly until December, when I was told that my bosses reference (let's call her Molly) needed Internal verification from the appointing company.
I had a lot of sick time last year as I have lupus syndrome and was hospitalised with complications which I had obviously told them about. I was seen and cleared by their Occupational health department last November who passed me as fit to work.
Molly assured me that she had put nothing negative in my reference apart from the sickness I had had.
However, I still hadn't heard anything formally until last week when they emailed me saying that all my pre employment checks had been completed and when could I start? The email stated that it was an unconditional offer, so. I emailed back, accepting the offer and gave them a start date of April. Thirty minutes later, they emailed again, saying that there was a query a out my sickness and could I explain my sickness. I replied and explained again asking them to contact me ASAP. Nobody replied, so I have called and emailed several times. I did have an email this week, saying again that there was a query about my sickness which I have replied to again but I don't know what to do now.
