AIBU to think delivery folk shouldn't bang on your glass door with the corner of their phone when they have hands, my doorbell can be heard working from the outside, and my house isn't on fire??

I considered going outside to say thanks by doing the same thing to their van.

There are worse things, they have to deliver a huge amount of parcels in a short period of time.

Gotnopokerface · 11/01/2020 13:21

I agree there certainly are worse things, have in the past fished parcels out of a bush, a bin full of water and found them left on the ground, but battering a glass pane with a phone.. This just seemed unnecessary.

Seriously?! In a world of wars, bushfires and lots of other awful things... You want to whine about your precious window and the fact the didn't knock properly?? YABU now get a grip!

Whynosnowyet · 11/01/2020 13:33

Worse is the delivery person who does not even knock. Posts a card and leaves it with ndn.
Sat with 3 ddogs at the front of the house so def didn't not hear!!

ActualHornist · 11/01/2020 13:35

Get an absolute grip of yourself.

Ok to be slightly miffed but to a) want to do the same back and b) come to Mumsnet to complain is ridiculous.

ClemDanFango · 11/01/2020 13:36

You have too much time on your hands

Doyoumind · 11/01/2020 13:37

The glass in doors is reinforced. If you are worried it will be damaged by someone knocking with a phone, get it checked.

Chocolatemouse84 · 11/01/2020 13:38

I don't really see the issue. They knocked, you heard them and got your parcel, unless they broke your window, I don't see it matters.

I have that sometimes although my bell is working but they go to a lot of houses where bells do not work or people can't hear them - sometimes they ring and then bang.

It doesn't bother me, glass panels on front doors are tougher than windows, they wouldn't do it otherwise. The important thing is that I hear the delivery people and receive the parcel.

zoobincan · 11/01/2020 13:48

It pisses me off too OP.

That doesn't mean I don't care about world issues though, that's a bit of a simplistic viewpoint. It's ok to be irked by things.

Pinkginhelps · 11/01/2020 13:51

You are:

A. Sleep deprived
B. Hungry
C. Pre-menstrual
D. In need of a decent orgasm
E. A bit mardy

Cohle · 11/01/2020 13:56

I'd struggle to give a shit about this.

Was the glass actually damaged in any way whatsoever?

Gotnopokerface · 11/01/2020 13:59

@zoobincan I agree. Nothing wrong with a wee rant on mum'snet while I'm home alone (after a post night shift nap with my cup of tea) I might not be as sanctimonious as other folk but it doesn't mean I don't care.

CarolinaPink · 11/01/2020 13:59

Don’t know why people are being so critical. So there are worse things in the world, but that doesn’t make it okay to bang on a glass door with metal, unnecessarily. I’d be irritated too, OP.

Gotnopokerface · 11/01/2020 14:00

@Pinkginhelps maybe a little of A. Not a clue what mardy is but maybe I'm that too 😂

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 11/01/2020 14:09

YANBU if you want someone to come to the door you just need to ring the bloody bell. Being a delivery person and having lots of work is no excuse for being ignorant. I've had them walk into my house before!

GameSetMatch · 11/01/2020 14:12

A delivery driver threw parcels over my back gate over December I assume because he was busy with Christmas being extra busy, I didn’t mind only I was on holiday for a week and when I arrived home I was met with dirty soggy parcels 🙄

MaMaMaMySharona · 11/01/2020 14:14

YABU for using the word “cross” 😂

iklboo · 11/01/2020 14:18

Oh dear OP. You obviously haven't got the recent memo that says all posts on MN must now be hand wringing, heart wrenching and only directly connected to World Affairs. You are required to submit your post in triplicate for Approval. Mild annoyances and light hearted threads are now banned or are 'banal' according to members of the self appointed Thread Stazi.

FloRiders · 11/01/2020 14:22

YABU for using text speak.

It is - I am rather cross.

HTH

YOLO

LOL

[santa]

butterpuffed · 11/01/2020 14:24

OP doesn't sound light hearted. Might be best to come back when there's an actual problem.

Gotnopokerface · 11/01/2020 14:24

Apologies, missed that memo 😂

I also apologies for my feelings and retract the word cross. I am irked.

I am now happily singing @MaMaMaMySharona.

KurriKurri · 11/01/2020 14:25

OP - you have been a victim of the MN sheep - first poster shouts Baa - and all the rest follow !
Interesting to see how the thread would have gone if first poster had said 'yes that is rather annoying isn't it?' Grin

(Nice to see there are still one or two goats left on here though !)

JosefKeller · 11/01/2020 14:26

why are you wasting that precious time of yours on MN Starryskye?

Aren't you deeply ashamed to be so frivolous? Hmm
