Teenage son keeps being rude just lost my temper

My 16 year old DS keeps being rude to me and I have just lost my temper and screamed at him to get out and go and live life alone if he’s so clever or with his Dad. I’m sick of his relentless rudeness and sarcastic comments, ignoring me when I talk to him etc. Tonight I had asked him a question four times before he answered with a rude response and I have just lost my temper completely. You are not being unreasonable. Although yelling isn't an effective way to resolve tension, most of us have done it.

I am on my third (very rude) teenager at the mo and I have felt like strangling her a few times lately. I don’t really have answers but all I can say is - it will pass. Eldest is 20 now and great, he’s finally matured!

My 2nd Dc is actually very good and generally well behaved but he was being very moody and rude a few months ago and one day I just burst into uncontrollable tears. It was like “please, don’t you start too - I can’t cope!”. He was so shocked and was apologising profusely. He hasn’t been rude like that ever since! I do feel a bit guilty though that I made him feel so bad as the way he was acting wasn’t even as bad as the other two are, or have been. It was just that I didn’t expect it from him. They’re all different. Maybe explain to your son how it makes you feel when he speaks to you that way. Don’t feel bad for losing your temper through - mothers are human beings with emotions and a boiling point!

I calmed down and spoke to him, he’s stressed with his a levels I was tired from work and thought of getting up at 5:30 - not a good mix.
It wasn’t my finest hour
