To ask for help with wedding outfit

Hi, I’m getting married in a few weeks. It will be a very small and casual affair. I need to sort out something to wear, and because I like jeans and jumpers I would like to use this opportunity to treat myself to the best jeans and jumper.

I’ve only ever bought jeans from next or m&s, and find that skinny jeans don’t really fit well and go baggy straight away.

So...can anyone recommend the best best best skinny jeans for short fat women?

I also have a very specific jumper in mind which doesn’t seem to exist in real life. So can anyone recommend anyone who can knit a bespoke, soft/thin/cashmere type jumper to my design?

Very grateful for any advice/recommendations!

it might be worth trying fatface for jeans, although I can't recommend a specific shape. for the jumper, try messaging this seller on etsy. all the best for your wedding x

I've never found jeans better than Next (and I have some that cost hundreds of pounds).
A few weeks isn't very long to find someone amazing to knit a jumper, can you be a bit more specific so we can see if we can find one for you.
Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

Thank you both for your quick replies! The ideal jumper is thin, soft wool, v neck, dark blue with a rainbow striped heart in the middle and rainbow striped cuffs. If I was having it made bespoke I’d also like to have our initials and the date stiched in somewhere discreet. Needs to be baggy. Am happy to pay decent money for the outfit but just don’t know where to go for it!

The Fold and Reiss seem to be quite good for classy jumpers. I personally like The White Company (they have a cashmere section to their website).

Gap is my go to for jeans. But Levi's and Monsoon are good too.

Casualbride · 05/01/2020 18:49

MT that’s really close! But yes really looking for brighter rainbow colours and a v neck.

Haven't found anything quite like what you're looking for.

If you can't find anyone to knit it bespoke then I saw this...not a heart, but a star at the end of the rainbow colours which is quite sweet. (Also not v neck, but it has the rainbow cuffs...) atlastshop.co.uk/collections/cashmere-and-wool-jumpers/products/cashmere-and-wool-rainbow-star-jumper-navy

I don’t think you can beat topshop for skinny jeans, only place I buy mine from other than Levi’s

Casualbride · 05/01/2020 19:08

Oh that is such a lovely jumper. If I wasn’t fat with ginormous boobs I would go for it, but it only comes in one size which is bound to be too small. And I find a v neck much better with the giant boobs ( also I have a special necklace to wear which would only work with a v neck). But thank you for looking!

It might be worth getting a style consultation. I follow a page called Styled by Susie. If you pay for a consultation they suggest what shape you are and where to buy jeans that suit your shape. Good luck

bridgetreilly · 05/01/2020 19:16

For the jumper you really need someone who does machine knitting commissions, I think, in order for it to be both thin and finished in your timeframe.

bridgetreilly · 05/01/2020 19:18

I found this page of machine knitters offering bespoke services: www.artika.co.uk/Knitters-List-index.html

MissMogwai · 05/01/2020 19:18

Doesn't help with the cuffs, but what about a plain v neck navy jumper and adding an appliqué heart or whatever else?

I'm sure you could find a lovely cashmere sweater in the sales?

bridgetreilly · 05/01/2020 19:18

You need intarsia, btw, for the heart.

Casualbride · 05/01/2020 19:23

Thank you all for responding :) the list looked promising but is from a few years ago and the links are dead, but will see if I can find a current one. Will also check out Styled by Susie.

Maybe you can commission your jumper?

I love Barbour's jeans - the only ones that fit my belly without needing a belt Blush Bit pricey but make my legs look great. Congrats on your wedding!

VaguelySensible · 05/01/2020 20:19

I know this isn't what you asked for, but if you're going to treat yourself to the best jumper, have a look at Pure cashmere. They are mostly solid colours, but such a lovely range of colours. And a huge range of styles, too. They are a pleasure to wear, so soft and warm.

Casualbride · 05/01/2020 21:08

Ooh thank you, that website looks promising! Will check out the other suggestions too.

Wyse do lovely, covetable cashmere jumpers. Rainbow stripes, hearts etc.

Casualbride · 05/01/2020 21:44

Those wyse ones are gorgeous! But they only seem to do small sizes and hardly any v necks. What does the fashion world have against big v neck jumpers??
