To help me find this teddy or similar

DS lost his much loved teddy at South Shields, NE on the promenade or beach on Saturday 28/12/19. DS has Autism, and selective mutism but he would chat away to his teddy, he really was his best friend.

We had a good look around when we realised he was missing, asked in nearby establishments and have put posts on several local FB pages but to no avail. Although DS said he just needs something that feels like his teddy when he cuddles him we have looked on eBay but nothing similar enough.

Ted is at least 10/11 years old (can't be exact as he was second hand when DS acquired him) His dungarees have a teddy bear head motif on, the pile of his fur is extremely short & back in the day he would have been chubbier but he has been somewhat flattened by all the cuddles. He had a Posh Paws label who are still manufacturing toys, I have messaged them & they very kindly looked at their archives and also their sister company White House Leisure but did not have anything similar.

I know it is a bit of a long shot but has anyone visiting South Shields seen him or does anyone know where I could get one similar?

Bumping for you x

Ditsythespider · 04/01/2020 22:17

My other suggestion would be can you buy another posh paws teddy bear as it is hopefully going to feel the same and a pair of tiny baby dungarees to go over it?

SylvanianFrenemies · 04/01/2020 22:23

Sorry your bit has lost such a precious teddy.

You could try finding someone on Etsy to try to recreate one. I got a seller to make a very niche cuddly toy a couple of years ago and it worked out well. Not as expensive as I had thought.

milliefiori · 04/01/2020 22:25

So sorry for you. Look on Ebay. DS2 (also autistic) lost his best friend Miffy when he was little and she was hell to replace as they'd stopped making her in that size or with the yellow dress. I eventually got one from Ebay.

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 04/01/2020 22:26

Could you contact the company and ask for their help?

Daisydoola · 04/01/2020 22:27

Can you post in a South Shields Facebook group? He may well have been handed in

DinoGreen · 04/01/2020 22:28

I think he looks like a squashed and faded version of Pooh bear. It’s the shape of his snout and paws. Very similar to E.g. this www.poshpawsinternational.co.uk/37101

Could he be one of those who has had a change of clothes at some point?

OverUnderSidewaysDown · 04/01/2020 22:28

If you have no luck here, try Little Blue Cup on Facebook, a page that searches for sippy cups, teddies, etc etc for children with special needs who have lost or worn out their special items.

Clevererthanyou · 04/01/2020 22:29

Ask a knitter or crocheter? Many would make it free of charge if you provide the yarn ☺️

TeddyIsaHe · 04/01/2020 22:29

Was also going to suggest Little Blue Cup, they age brilliant at finding niche products for children.

Daisydoola · 04/01/2020 22:30

Sorry, just seen you've done that. I hope he turns up

Tiredmumno1 · 04/01/2020 22:32

eBay

Closest I could find.

Hope you find one quickly OP

Tiredmumno1 · 04/01/2020 22:46

Do you think this eBay bear is similar but without the dungarees?

scoobydoo1971 · 04/01/2020 22:50

There are many talented folk on etsy and similar websites. Why not approach one of them to make a replacement teddy? If you show them pictures then they could perhaps make a good replica.

OrchidJewel · 04/01/2020 22:51

Oh no I'm know what it's like. Hope you find him

Tingers · 04/01/2020 23:08

Thanks for replies so far, you are all wonderful people. I am hoping one will turn up on eBay eventually so will keep stalking teddies looking there.

I did forget to put in my OP that the best thing DS likes about his teddy is his big smile, his glass eyes and also he has a beanbag feel to his bottom which he likes the "crunch" of, obviously that is harder to tell from a photo.

DitsytheSpider the second teddy could be a contender along with Tiredmumno1 (will have to have a closer look at the eyes) and suggestion of PP teddy & separate dungarees could work.

I will definitely look into the Etsy & Little Blue Cup suggestions & link

@Tingers I don't know if you are still looking, I came across something on Facebook and wondered if it could help you. There is a page called Little Blue Cup, it looks like it may try and help children with special needs track down lost toys, or help locate other ones. Really hope you see this and that it can help you Smile

Tingers alsthugh this Monkeyis not anyway the same, he has all of the features including thevbean bag crunch bum that you describe above.. We have one, and it is well loved by DGs who also loves the tactile features it has like Lost Ted above..

Maybe your Ds could be happy with a new friend ? worth a try?

Laska2Meryls · 06/01/2020 19:43
