I tried to keep baby names secret but my OH told my mum a few before I could stop him and now my mum has told me if I dont use it she wants to use it for her new puppy! So now I'm annoyed and feel like I have to use the name so she doesnt. I love the name but I'm just going to think of what she said all the time if I do use it. Am i just being unreasonable or hormonal?

I was told when I was pregnant with DC1 not to be put off names because of association because if you name the child it the association will soon be forgotten, which I now 100% agree with! I'd probably be annoyed too but it's not worth getting hung up on, whatever decision you make 😊

I'm not cross she likes it I'm a bit put it because when I told her about it she had a downer in it saying oh it will be said wrong or spelt wrong etc. My mum is very negative all the time and is very opinionated and is fine to say one thing and do another if it suits her.

When are you due and when is your mum getting a puppy?

Honestly I would stop giving this headspace. When your baby arrives you either will either use the name because you still love it or you won't because another name is just perfect. Either way your mum's comment about naming a future pup really won't matter any more.

Due in 4 weeks decided not to find out babys sex so if it's a girl wont be using the name but if I had another baby in the future that was a boy I would use it but wouldn't be able to as she would already have named the dog. She hasn't got a date for the puppy yet.
