To remove the toilet roll holder

Because no other fucker cares if it’s there. I’m the only one that puts the new roll on, no one gives a shit - no pun intended, although in this house a poo can warrant an entire roll.

I’m going to remove the bloody thing and stop getting the rage about unfettered bog roll. It’s gonna be a good year.

Grinlove this!

Cakemadeoffruit · 03/01/2020 19:05

Do it. We've done exactly that and life is so much stress free. So long as you can get over the fact others think you are a slattern they thought that anyway because there was never a loo roll on the holder

FeedThemFlumps · 03/01/2020 19:23

I don't have them for this same reason.

Rollonspringtime2020 · 03/01/2020 19:25

Are you the only female op?

thenightsky · 03/01/2020 19:27

My lot actually take the roll off the damn holder! I sit down for a poo, reach for the roll, and its fucking gone, again! They move it to the top of the cistern or the window sill - both behind me where I cannot reach (mobility issues). Bastards!

Zaphodsotherhead · 03/01/2020 19:28

I took mine off years ago when the kids used to dispense loo roll with one sharp jerk that caused about fifty million sheets to cascade off the roll and coil onto the floor, whereupon they used the last four sheets and left the rest festooning the room. Every time.

So I just rest the loo roll on the top of the radiator next to the toilet now. It looks weird but it stopped the Miracle Dispenser effect.

MrsJoshNavidi · 03/01/2020 19:36

We don't actually have a toilet roll holder in any of our toilets. It sits on the cistern.
Not for any reason, other than laziness. We never got round to installing them when we moved in twenty years ago.

BumbleBeee69 · 03/01/2020 20:04

annoys the heck outta me too OP.. Hmm

@Zaphodsotherhead one tip to reduce the "Andrex puppy" effect of one tug emptying a roll is to squeeze the roll so that the inner cardboard bit is an oval. Slows the unrolling!

tillytrotter1 · 03/01/2020 20:09

I always remove a loo roll not on the spindle, I had people thinking they were going mad, 'I'm sure a put a new loo roll in there!'. OH hasn't realised what's going on yet.

Thirder · 03/01/2020 20:09

I don't have one either and much prefer it.
Empty cylinders do end up sitting on top of the cistern but it's so much easier to pick that up and put in bin (still only me that does it, mind you)I never have to replace a roll. I just have a bundle of them in a nearby drawer. Grab one and put it where ever I like. Usually in the handle of the toilet brush or in a shelf nearby.
I love the freedom brings! I grew up in a house with a very hous eproud mother who would insist on it in a holder facing a partucler way and it must never reach the end of the roll before being replaced. And was usually colour coded to match the bathroom it was in.

ItsJustASimpleLine · 03/01/2020 20:10

We have a freestanding one with storage beneath so if the storage under is full it gets replaced. But no one seems to be able to restock the ones underneath!

Mauhea · 03/01/2020 20:15

My DP is a bugger for balancing the new roll on top of the holder. Only he breaks out a new roll when there's still several wipes worth of paper on the old one! I just left it once to see how out of hand it would get and it was absolute carnage. Almost finished rolls everywhere - balanced on the cistern, on the window sill, 2 precariously balanced on the (almost empty) roll on the holder. I just don't understand!

Zaphodsotherhead · 04/01/2020 10:17

Thanks @BruceAndNosh - they are all grown up and have left home now! But I still don't put the loo roll on the holder - force of habit!

cheesersqueezer · 04/01/2020 11:49

Gives me the rage in our house too. I put one on the holder and one on the cistern and the one on the holder gets removed and plonked beside the other one on the cistern. Infuriating.

WhatchaMaCalllit · 04/01/2020 11:57

No, leave the empty toilet roll insert on the holder. Just remove the toilet roll when you're done. They'll soon realise that they need to replenish the roll on the holder.

leonardthelemming · 04/01/2020 12:03

We keep three rolls vertically on a stick. When there is only one left we know it's time to email the Toilet Roll Fairy.

violetbunny · 05/01/2020 06:24

Replace the holder with one that is less effort to swap over
